Khersonsia is home to around 36.4 million people.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
"Khersonsia" simply means "peninsula" in the classical Hylotic language. The name likely originated as a result of phrase intention being lost in translation during early interactions between Valahandian explorers and the native peoples of the peninsula. An alternative, much more self-indulgent name, "Lygisepolis" was introduced in the years leading up to the Iustitian War for Independence by those in opposition to Valahandian colonial rule. "Lygisepolis" literally means "bastion of the unchained" in classical Hylotic. Despite occasional efforts by a wide assortment of advocates, "Lygesepolis" has failed to displace "Khersonsia" as the standard reference name for the landmass.
