The People's Movement Party is a political party in The Nuiqsut Confederation founded in 2015 by David Alagalak. Created as an alternative to the traditional two political parties of Nuiqsut in the 2016 Election.
History
David Alagalak left the Liberal Party in 2014, after policy disagreements. Ahead of the 2016 election, the PMP launched a campaign for Liberal Party voters in Port Nuiqsut and Bethel. The campaign was successful and was able to force a coalition with the Confederation Party. In 2020, the PMP was able to form a minority government with continued success in appealing to voters along the East Coast. In 2021, Amanda Nurr'araaluk was elected commissioner with the support of the PMP, although the Confederation Party was the primary political group.
