United Laurentian States

The Empire of The United Laurentian States is a tiny, safe nation located off of the East coast of Neria. The compassionate, democratic population of Laurentians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The large, socially-minded, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 38.0%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The developing Laurentian economy is currently worth approximately 231 billion dollars a year. State-owned companies are common. The average income is 25,717 dollars, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare.

Tourists from around the world come to visit the country's famous rainforests. Laurentia is trying to develop its eco-tourism industry and working to become a climate-friendly nation. Laurentia's national animal is the Black Bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
