The Party of Trade and Commerce was a short-lived Maximusian political faction that emerged shortly after the nation's founding. It primarily advocated for the implementation of tariffs as a means of sustaining federal government activity and for the encouragement of increased trade with neighboring nations (a departure from the former provisional government's isolationist policies). Founded by statesman Francis Green in 1843, the party's most notable member was 2nd Maximusian President, James Duncan, who dedicated the majority of his presidency to brokering trade agreements and opening the nation to international commerce. The PTC was formally disbanded in 1855.
