Royal Verdesia Football Club, often referred to as Royal Verdesia or simply Verdesia, is a Legionite professional football club based in Verdesia. It competes primarily in the Legionite Premier League, the pinnacle of the Legionite football pyramid. Nicknamed The Royals, they were founded in 1904 as the Verdesia Union Football and Rugby Club, as a merger of four Verdesia-based football and rugby teams that played at the same field, but changed their name to Royal Verdesia Football Club in 1916 following the bestowing of the honorific Royal by King Louis II and prior split-up of the Football and Rugby teams within the VUFRC into two separate teams. RVFC has been based in the Slestead Municipality on the outskirts of Verdesia since 1928, with its stadium, the 54,500 all-seater Radon Arena as well as the club's training complex and corporate and administrative facilities occupying a total of around 186 acres in the municipality.
Domestically, Royal Verdesia is the second most successful football club in Legionas, behind Sherfield United, with a total of 18 top flight league titles and 21 Royal Cups as well as a dozen other domestic professional trophies.
