History
The Socialist Party was formed in 1978 to follow up the Left Front for Socialist Reform, in 1980 the party won 4 seats and began a period of slow expansion. Its appeal mostly among working-class rural voters in the province of Victoria.
Policy
The Socialist Party argues for the ideas of Socialism of the 21st Century. The idea of reaching popular control of the state through non-violent but swift reforms. And argues for direct-control of capital by organized labor themselves, and calls prior socialist movements ineffective and is mostly reformist instead of revolutionary. There are smaller parties such the Revolutionary Socialist Party and the Gramontism Party.
