Costeno is the southernmost province of Lauchenoiria. Before Lauchenoirian unification, however, Costeno was the founder of the Costenan Empire, which claimed territory in a number of locations, including modern-day Slokais Islands.

History

Pre-imperial times

Costenan Empire

In the 1500s, a Costenan expeditionary force left seeking new territory. They sailed to lands unknown to them and colonised part of Slokais Islands. In 1620, Shuellian colonists arrived in the Costenan homeland, colonising it for 30 years but facing resistance throughout.

In the 1730s, Costeno managed to achieve what they had been attempting for centuries: the colonisation of Aeluria. A century after their colonisation of Aelura the Costenans took over Ecanta following the death of their king: a member of the Encantan royal family restored after Ecanta gained independence from Valahandia. In 1820 the colony in Slokais was lost after a war with rebels after the Treaty of San Fernando.

In the 1840s, Ecanta and Aeluria united against their Costenan colonisers, managing to provoke a revolution in Costeno in order to end their oppression, ending the monarchy in Costeno and the empire.
