The Maximusian Great Trout is a species of freshwater fish in the salmon family indigenous to the cooler waters of northeast Libertas Omnium Maximus. Great Trout are considered a staple in the Maximusian diet and are the only freshwater species of Salmonidae native to the nation. Prized for their size and quality of meat by recreational anglers and commercial fishermen alike, the Great Trout has been a victim of overfishing since the late 1960s and is classified as a vulnerable species by the Maximusian Commission on Ecological Conservation. Today, Great Trout are federally protected through stringent game laws.
