The Green Party is a Tsiba political party founded in 1994 by Emetsi Hhute Chavatsy to represent and support the agricultural interests of Tsiba. The Green Party is a centrist agrarian party. The party has been led by Pe'echavo Anderson since 2018.
History
In 1993, with the legalization on non-Shooda political parties, Emetsi Hhute Chavatsy officially split from the party and put in a petition to form an agricultural-interest party. Chavatsy had previously served as Representative 42 of Tsibitsy for over a decade. Her petition was approved in 1994, and the party slowly built support in rural areas, particularly in the region of Tsibitsy.
Chavatsy won the party elections in 1998 and 2002, but lost to Benya Marie Sherman in 2006, after which Chavatsy retired from politics. Sherman lead the party until 2018, when Pe'echavo Anderson won the 2018 party elections. Eleanor Marie Butler served as Secretary of the Party from 1994 to 2013, when she split to form the Ecology Party. Butler was replaced by Ishutse Novebeda.
In their time in the Duchavoputsy, the Green Party has traditionally been the second most successful party in passing legislation behind only the Shooda-Tsiba party. Members of the party often work with the Shooda-Tsiba, the Ecology Party, and the Unity Party.
