The Progressive Party of Laeral (French: Parti Progressiste) is a center-left, social democratic political party in Laeral. It is one of four major contemporary political parties in Laeral, and is currently in government at the federal level following the 2018 Laeralian Federal Election. The party counts former President Nicholas Brennan and Foreign Minister Tanvi Misra as members. The Progressive Party is currently the second-largest party in the Assembly of Commons and the General Assembly.
History
The Progressive Party was formed following the 1952 coup attempt known as the Bloody Summer by Zhou Wei-lin of the so-called Gang of Five, the five leftist leaders who had dominated Laeralian politics during the Republican period. Edmond Yeoh and Matthieu Dallaire were co-founders.
