Background

Juan Costa had ruled Slokais for 14 years before the Civil War. In that time he had quickly turned the country to his personal ideals. The RPLA or Reformist Peoples Liberation Army was formed as a police force for the National Reform Party of Slokais they often patrolled major cities putting down dissent. Those who opposed Costa were often thrown in jail extra-judicially such as Robert Marques who in 1956 was thrown in jail for "crimes against the state". Marques protested against re-education camps that often took children and teens out of their schools. In October of 1960, the RPLA destroyed an entire community center in Southland, for crimes against the state" 20 people died in the explosion, and many others were injured, following protests erupted in Southland, they were soon joined by others fed up with the government. The RPLA was called in when the protests reached Government Hill, the RPLA responded with violence and soon there were riots throughout the city. In San Sabla however, a group known as "Revolution for Slokais" held on to a police building for almost 2 weeks despite many attacks. However by November, they were all arrested and in the following months, the RPLA conducted daily raids on the homes of protest leaders.

1961

After the Tearvan Straits Incident and the start of the Great War. John Costa declared a formal alliance with Darya stating that "We must defend against the liberals and the so called "coalition of democratic forces" and there attempt to undermine our order". After this an industrial mobilization was declared by executive order, this included this dissolution of trade unions and the declaration of martial law. For many this was a rallying cry and large-scale protests began across Slokais Islands. In response the "Safe Security and Defense Act" was created calling for a mass draft of 150,000 men to "combat reactionary forces".

1962

The Free Democratic Forces or (FDF) took control of the government of East Acadia, the FDF was a Minjian based group that quickly became target's. The Battle of Santa Cruz del Rio, was the first true battle of the war as FDF forces with support from other groups captured a military base.

1971

On June 27th, 1971, the United Federation of Slokais Islands was reformed thus creating a new state.
