Overview

Kolda is a mid-sized multi-ethnic nation that Borders Laeral and is near Libertas Omnium Maximus. With 5 million people across the country. With its Capital at Kolda City, the country has existed since 1846 when it rose about Laerlian Slave Owners, though the country has had rough times. The population is 60% Ethnic Koldar with 30% being Ethnic Hasca and 10% being Larerlian.

History

People have lived in what is now Kolda for 50,000 years, for a while small villages developed across the lowlands along the Kolda River. Around 100 CE a Kingdom known as Nhamey took over the region, they were the first to build towns, as well as advanced weapons. For the next 200 years, various Kingdoms split off. But the two main ones were Koldar in the South and Hasca in the North. The two ethnic groups fought with each other for many decades. In 1100 the first traders arrived over the mountains from Laeral, now goods could be sold to other places. In the 1400s explorers from Laeral passed by the shores, however only set up a few settlements not knowing at was the people they had been trading with for years. Until they saw Laerlian Jade in some places did they realize these were the same people. In 1530 they began to enslave the people who were living there. They saw the potential with lots of proper farmland, In 1602 an army made up of Larelian Ren peoples took over both Kingdoms and began to enslave the local population. Because they had guns resistance to them mostly failed. They then established the Colony of Koldar they then set up a city called Fuxing on the mouth of what they called the Fuxing River(Kolda River). The Ren favored the Hasca people to cause tension within the people they had enslaved, this prevented many widespread uprisings. Until the 1840s when during the Larelian War of Independence when a small speaker called Anthony, nobody knows his last name as his master gives no record of it. Anthony led a brutal revolution that freed many slaves, Since slavers outnumbered their owners 9 to 1 they quickly took over much of the nation. Even though Anthony was killed they took over Fuxing, by the time the Ren came back with an Army. The people of Kolda were ready and forced the Laarelians and secured their new nation with the Treaty of Fuxing. Then renamed the capital city Port Kolda. As soon as the nation was founded there were tensions between Hascas and Koldars. For a while, the Hascas held power despite making up a minority of people within the country. Over the next century, the country industrialized and by 1930 the workers rose up. And in 1935 the government was remade to be more equal. For the next 40 years government changed hands a few times and then in 1982 the military took over this lasted until 2005 when a 4-year multi-part civil war began, finally in 2011 things returned to normal and Johnathan Adebayo and the United Workers and Farmers Party took over. Since then the UWFP has changed the country towards Libertarian Socialism.

Geography

Kolda is made up of 12 provinces between the large mountains of the East along the border with Laeral and the lowland South along the Kolda River where most people live. Then the coastal range of mountains near Port Kolda. Then in the North the southern shore of a large inland sea. Most of the country is tropical with jungles and grasslands, except in the East where there are snowcapped mountains And the highest point in Kolda, Mt Shandong with the peak being split by the border. Overall Koldar live mostly along the Kolda River Delta and in the lowlands while the Hasca live along the inland sea.
