Ambonar Province is unique for its ethnic homogeneity. 80% of the population is Indigenous, the highest for a province not singularly created for a singular Indigenous group. Although most of the indigenous population of Ambonar belongs to the Ambonari ethnic group, it is often classified separately from the indigenous population in certain surveys. 76.5% of the population is considered as Ambonari, with most townships having over 90% of the population being Ambonari. Mestizos make up the largest minority population, mostly in Xulin and the Valley of Plenty, with most having moved to the province in the last 30 years to work in the business or trade sectors. Kaijanese form a sizeable minority of 3.0% most being recent converts to Revivalism who left Kaijan in search of economic opportunities. Nearanos are a similar case with most being immigrants from Kolda or Kabo Geshaan who converted and moved to Ambonar to fulfill theological obligations. Both groups have been described by sociologists as an underclass due to most working as servants or gardeners for wealthy Ambonaris. There are also populations of Costenos and Ren, despite the Ren population being as high as 15% or 20% in the 1600s. Unlike the rest of the country, very few are Minjian with less than 1,500 left in the province. | |||

Ambonar Province is a province of Slokais Islands home to 4,877,230 people. The largest city is Xulin[a] home to 997,348 people. Historically being the center of the Ambonar Empire, the province has long been culturally and ethnically homogenous. Ambonar Province is also the origin of the Revivalist movement of the 1600s which is primarily organized around the Ambonar Church of God. Due to it's geography Ambonar has a large agricultural and fishing industry as well a industrial and shipping sector which has led to Ambonar having the 3rd highest GDP behind only New Liverpool and San Fernando Province.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
The name Ambonar comes from a translation from ancient Ambon meaning "the land of plenty". Prior to the 1700s, Ambonar was sometimes referred to as Jorongkan by maps of the era.
History[edit | edit source]
Ambonar has been settled by humans since around 40,000 years ago. The original settlers being hunter-gatherers who built several stone structures. Around 5,000 year's ago the first organized clans came into formation with the Jorongkan in the Samjarai Cape region and the Borongan in the coastal lowlands. The Jorongkan practiced a system of polytheistic faith known as Kamhanmara or the "Way of Life", the texts of religion remains one of the best records of the Jorongkan's existence as the Revivalist movement saw the destruction of Kahanmara temples. In 700 CE, the Borongan established Xulin Dah Garai Ambonari "The place in the land of plenty" shortened later to Xulin. Xulin was built between several islands allowing for it to become a large trade hub between the interior regions and inter-regional trade networks. In 985, Borongan became involved in the Great War of Faith as Minjian traders where attacked in the port district of Xulin and the Shen Yimu Clan responded by sending a fleet to discourage further attacks.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Ambonar Province is located in the southwest of San Fernando Island. The northern portion of the province is located with the Sierra Nevada plan, an area of flat lands and fertile land thus includes the Borongan River, the longest river of the province which reaches into the peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This area also has the largest population due to a history of farming and industrial development and includes the city of Xulin. Further, south the Samjarai Cape which extends from the rest of San Fernando Island and is formed by Kaminyanha Mountains. This region is semi-tropical and is known for fruit production. The Kaminyaha Mountains strech to the west, forming the Tabelands region which includes the Ziongari Plateau, a important location in Revivalist theology. On the southern coast is the Valleres Plain, a lowland which is mostly within neighboring Valleres Province although includes the city of Duatri, the second largest by population in the province.

While having a Governor and Provincial Legislature as set as standard by the Constitution of 1971, Ambonar also has a head of state, being the King of Ambonar, a position inherited from the previous holder. The current King is Sri Hanni Samrajorong II, who ascended upon the death of his father Hanni Samrajorong in 1995. The King has the authority to reject a governmental formation in Parliament as well as presides over the Provincial Legislature of Ambonar. The current governor is Elizabeth Kamrani[b]. Elections are held every 4 year's with the Ambonar Senate having 30 seats and the Ambonar Delegate Assembly having 120 seats.
