Novella Islands Army

The Novella Islands Aerospace Army (NIA) is the land warfare branch of the Novella Islands Defence Force (NIDF), the armed forces of the Social Republic of the Novella Islands. The smallest branch by both manpower and expenditure, by a significant margin - due to multiple factors, including the Novellan Archipelago's relatively small land mass, a heavy military doctrinal focus on interdiction prior to threats making landfall, and a relative lack of expeditionary warfare conducted by the NIDF as a whole - it nonetheless operates as an active operational branch, even in peacetime. Primary tasking for the Army at peace generally involves humanitarian support, counter-terrorism operations, and support in both border security and policing operations as needed; conversely, in times of war, the NIA provides the last line of defence for the Novella Islands. The Army also operates two specialised divisions, with the Engineering Division providing engineering, construction, and demolitions support, and the Special Operations Division acting as a dedicated special forces unit for the most sensitive or hazardous of missions.
