Edric III (born 12 February 1975) has been King of Eldid since 3 August 1996. He succeeded his father, King William, following the latter's assassination during the Founders' Day celebrations in Elda. Ascending the throne at the age of twenty-one, Edric became the youngest reigning monarch in Eldidian history.
As constitutional monarch, Edric III has focused on promoting scientific research, technological innovation, environmental conservation, education, and international cooperation, while maintaining the politically neutral role of the Crown established under the Charter of Elda.

Edric was born in Elda on 12 February 1975, the eldest child of King William and Queen Eleanor III. As Crown Prince, he received a broad education emphasizing constitutional law, history, economics, and public policy, alongside military and diplomatic training customary for members of the royal family.
He later attended the Royal University of Elda, where he studied Constitutional Law and Public Administration. During his education, he also completed official visits abroad and represented the Crown at international events, gradually assuming public duties on behalf of his father.

On 3 August 1996, King William was assassinated by a lone political extremist while attending the annual Founders' Day ceremony in Elda. Under the Eldidian Constitution, the Crown passed immediately to Crown Prince Edric, who became King Edric III at twenty-one years of age.
His accession marked the beginning of the longest uninterrupted reign since that of King Aldren I. The transition occurred peacefully, and the assassination ultimately reinforced public support for the constitutional monarchy and democratic institutions.

Edric III has continued the modernizing approach adopted by his father while maintaining the Crown's constitutional neutrality.

The King and Queen have two children:
- Prince Arthur, Crown Prince of Eldid (born 18 April 2010), heir apparent to the Eldidian throne.
- Princess Helen of Eldid (born 7 September 2013).
The royal family resides primarily at the Royal Palace of Elda, while also spending part of the year at Highmere House, the monarch's official summer residence.
