Henrietta Bartlett (May 20, 1955 - 1999) was the leader of Democratic Kerlian State during the Kerlian Civil War until she was captured in 1999 and executed at some point in the same year. She was considered one of the primary instigators of the war, and her name remains synonymous in the Matriarchy with 'traitor' to this day. In other countries, she is celebrated, and her book Feminism Against Matriarchy is a bestseller abroad, while being banned in Kerlile. ==Early life== Bartlett was born in Sophiehill, a village in Kerlile near to the Restricted Region. Throughout her early life, it is likely she was very aware of the policies of the Matriarchy in the RR. She was first arrested at the age of thirteen for attending an anti-government demonstration and spent three years in an Alternative Education Centre. ==Civil war== Bartlett was the founder and leader of Democratic Kerlian State (DKS), an outlawed anti-government group classified as a terrorist organisation in the Matriarchy of Kerlile. DKS were responsible for the outbreak of the Kerlian Civil War in 1992, and worked with Lauchenoiria in the war in an attempt to overthrow the Council of Kerlile. Prior to the war, DKS existed as a pressure group for two years. Bartlett commanded DKS throughout the war, and remained in Kerlile even when the group began to collapse. In January 1999, she was captured near the Lauchenoirian border after government forces retook the village DKS had been using as a command centre. As the leader of the anti-government rebellion, Bartlett was paraded through the streets of Grapevale following her capture. Pictures captured during this show that she had been heavily beaten since her capture, and that she was missing a finger: it became Kerlian policy to cut off a finger from each captured DKS prisoner. ==Execution== Bartlett is thought to have been executed in secret at some point in 1999. While no date or location has ever been released by the Matriarchy, President Sara Viallamando stated in November 1999 that Bartlett was 'no longer in this world'. ==Books== Bartlett wrote one non-fiction book, Feminism Against Matriarchy which was published in Lauchenoiria in 1994 during the war. Feminism Against Matriarchy is considered part-memoir, part-manifesto and is a bestseller in several countries. The book has been banned in Kerlile since prior to its official publication. Bartlett was also a contributor to three anthologies; two on the Kerlian Civil War and one on her experiences within Alt-Ed. All three were also published during the war.
