===Empress of Xiomera===

While the two initially worked well together, Xochiuhue's increasing brutality and refusal to listen to the advice Calhualyana and the intelligence community tried to give him led to a major rift developing between the two. After a major disagreement on an order Xochiuhue had given which Calhualyana deemed a threat to Xiomeran security, the Secretary joined up with General Zinahue, the head of the Xiomeran General Staff, and Brigadier General Sadak, the Iskirami general in charge of allied Iskirami forces protecting the Palace of Flowers, and overthrew Xochiuhue on 17 October 2020. Calhualyana declared herself Empress in Xochiuhue's place. She pledged to restore order and harmony to the country in a televised address, in which she also offered peace talks to end the Second Xiomeran Civil War.

As Empress, Calhualyana has pursued a campaign of re-arming Xiomera, as well as expanding its military reach in the Caxcana area. She has also worked to shift Xiomera's trade focus away from democratic nations to more friendly states, such as [[Shuell]] and [[Iskiram]]. She allowed elections to be held in January 2021, which led to the creation of an elected Imperial Parliament and Prime Minister. However, with the exception of minor political parties with almost no influence at all, the majority of seats are held by the loyalist [[Xiomeran Citizens' Party]]. The emergence of a defacto one-party state in Xiomera has led to accusations from democratic states that the Xiomeran political process is a sham meant to ensure the Empress remains in power.

Under Calhualyana, Xiomera has pursued an increasingly authoritarian, fascist and nationalist stance in both domestic and international affairs. This "Xiomera First" agenda has as its central ideology that Xiomera has been too cooperative with foreign states in the past, and must pursue its own advancement regardless of any opposition from the international community.
