==Legislative Career==
In 2006, following a successful time as Ward President, Chavez was selected on an Independent party list in that year's election. He was fairly far down on the list and was not elected. However, in 2008, Chavez was selected for the Center Party list within New Liverpool and was successfully elected to the Legislature. 
 
In 2016 he was selected as the Centrist Party candidate over Joseph Zhang causing a major split in the party after a convention vote approved him however in two rounds he won against George Oliver with 55% of the vote. He became the youngest president in history at age 37 also the first Costeno since 1994. During his time in office, he quickly left the Centrist Party after allegations that some within the party had paid armed gang members to come into his old apartment complex. In 2017 he created the National Alliance, a center-left party that gained support from Greens, Centrists, and Left Party members. Chavez ran as the National Alliance candidate in 2018, losing to Jospeh Zhang in the second round with 48% of the vote. However, his party the National Alliance created a minority-government becoming Prime Minister. As PM he managed to pass the Government Recognition Act that made native languages required on signage within their own provinces, as well as the Hate Crimes Act the made created an additional charge for crimes that targeted a specific racial or religious group. In 2020 he ran against Zhang once again, this time winning with 54% over two rounds. He also ran with Alex Ahamad who became PM after she was elected party leader just after the election, in his place appointing Sean Khan as VP, becoming the first cross-party ticket in history. So far during his presidency, he has kept high approval ratings of 55-60%
