Repeal the assisted suicide act
#1

General assembly,
Alarmed by the assisted suicide act,
Appalled by the new power that the doctors have,
Pointing out the numerous problems such as,
1. The doctors now have more power over life and death,
2. The depressed people can now end their lives more easily than normal,
3. It covers the line between euthanasia and murder
Hereby nullifies resolution 285

Why is it bad to give doctors more power over life and death? They're already obligated to put the patient's best interests first, as I recall. Even if they aren't so bound by international law, they is no reason to expect a rational nation would allow doctors to cause harm on a whim.

This seems to have an odd understanding of assisted suicide.

Yes but, it will also let the depressed kill themselves easier. Also, it could help with genocide

Also, it could help with genocide[/quote]Genocide is already illegal, and the idea of allowing people to end their lives is based in the idea of bodily sovereignty. The depressed do not lose bodily sovereignty merely by virtue of being depressed. That becomes a medical decision, not a legal one.
