Activity And New Members
#1

The IDU is a pretty large region. Our turnover is also pretty high, it seems. We have a few long-standing members who have been here for ages, and a few new members. The new members seem scarce on these forums.

I would like to make a suggestion. When new members enter the region, someone (probably the delegate) would telegram them telling them all the reasons to check out the forum and become involved. We have a lot going on here, or would if people came by.

Since the chances are that I'm going to become delegate, I will try to do that. Here's a sample I drafted up just now:
Welcome to the IDU!
You might not have seen our regional forums. There's a lot going on there, which you might want to check out. Domonia has kindly made us a regional map, on which you can claim a spot. The IDU Council is a voluntary organization dedicated to regional affairs. It's sort of like the World Assembly, but much better. We have a regional currency, the Conargo, which you can adopt if you like. Our off-topic section has everything from engaging debates to mindless chatter.
Sincerely,
[nation]Embolalia[/nation],
IDU WA Delegate

Of course, this is all meaningless without the debate actually being here. I'm currently posting the seeds of some threads across the boards. I hope to see some responses.

I hate to burst your bubble but that strategy has been applied time and again. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result, we need a new idea not an old one repackaged to look new.

That being said, I don't know why we couldn't take that strategy. Yes, we cannot keep going at it the way it has been done before, but do we know if people come look? The forum's been kind of dead, after all, so some may come and just decide not to bother contributing.

I figure getting people on the site is the first half of the battle. I think as long as there are a few active threads for participation, it will slowly spread, and we'll have an active forum again.

Also, is it just me, or does the "show new posts" link on the portal not work? And the same for unread thread icons?

We need to start posting items on this site, regardless of how meaningless it is. Talk about how you're upset over the lack of participation or how the WA isn't being as effective as it can be. Talk about your ideas for new proposals or who is in line to be the next delegate. Come on people let's show some energy.

I'm new and I'm trying to be as active as possible...but I am also in the military and have a wife, a son, and a house so I do have other obligations...I would like to see this map and claim some land lol
