From The Cachettian Enquirer
Daniel Syzcki, Liberal Prime Minister, has resigned effecting as soon as a new Liberal leader has been elected. So far, there are 2 declared candidates in the leadership race. The first is 1998's runner up Felix Walsh, who has said if elected he would immediately call a general election 'to silence the howlings of an ineffectual and unnecessary so-called Democratic Movement, and to re-establish the Liberal Party as the sole party fit to run Cachette de Lions'.
The other candidate is Selwyn Gregor, elected for the first in Syzcki's first election as leader, in 1999. At 35, he is far younger than 58-year-old Walsh, which, as it did with Syzcki in 1998, is thought to give him an advantage. He advocated a change in Cachettian politics, 'with the Liberals at the forefront whilst working with others to secure our nation's future'.
Syzcki has stated candidates must achieve the nominations of at least 30 Liberal MPs by August 26, pending an election September 1-5. The new Prime Minister will be announced September 7 and come into office September 10.
(OOC: I was bored with Syzcki. And the Liberals in general, really. They've been in office for 24 years now. The Democratic Movement was a deliberate ploy to destabilise them, triggering an election. In short, I couldn't think of much else.)
