International Democratic Union Country Codes
#1

I'd like to suggest that we agree on a set of standard IDU Country Codes.  We are small enough that a two letter code might be appropriate, but I'm open to hearing ideas.

The general idea is that I was thinking (about the real world) that MK might be an appropriate postal code for Mikitivity.  Smile

If there is an interest in this, I'll create an index of all our codes and move this post lower in this thread.

Well GS is an obvious given. Smile

GG is pretty obivous as a national code, but our internal postal codes are more complicated because we're such a large country.

PM is pretty obvious for us

DO, please?

Please keep 'em coming! I'm going to suggest that along with our building a map that we consider drafting an agreement that vehicles (boats, planes, trains, and autos) be registered using these codes in order to standardize things for our nations.

Please add the country code "MA" for Malabra. Smile

The Sultanate of the Ayyubids would like to use the country code: YY

May I have LC added?

(Technically, in Welsh LL is a single letter, but that's just a silly detail.)

I'm up for ST (which happily coincides that that of Star Trek Tongue ).

And yes, I say let's make our country codes used for all standarized numbers. One of France's little wrinkles is that it's two-number departmental codes get recycled in various contexts. For instance, "75" means Paris, so all cars registered in Paris terminate in 75, it's postal code is 75000, etc. 57 is in Alsace-Lorraine (Haut-Rhin department, maybe?), 81 includes Toulon (Bouches-du-Rh?ne department, perhaps?), etc.

I also nominate Yuunli as our Regional Postmaster General. On one of his other sites, he's done a study of postal codes:

http://www.saaropean.net/countries/postal.html

I would be happy to serve as Rolf's deputy in this matter. Vexillology, philately, deltiology, I'm into most hobbies ending in "y"!

off topic:
57 is the Moselle department (close to where I live) in Lorraine, capital Metz. Haut-Rhin (Alsace) has 68.
81 is Tarn (Midi-Pyr?n?es = Southern France and Pyrenees), capital Albi.
Bouches-du-Rh?ne is 13 (PACA = Provence-Alpes-C?te-d'Azur), capital Marseilles.
Those codes are in alphabetical order from 01 (Ain) to 89 (Yonne) except 75 (Paris, used to be "Seine"), 90 (Territoire de Belfort, not created before 1922), 91-95 (Greater Paris) and 971-974 (D.O.M. = overseas departments).

No, Yuunli / Saaropean is definitely on topic on this one. And his grasp of the postal/departmental codes just demonstrate he's the ideal Postmaster General of the IDU. B)

Since four of the five schnauzervolk states are now in the IDU, here is the complete list:

GS - Grosseschnauzer
SS - Schnauzer States
SH - Schnauzer Homelands
PS - Purple Schnauzers
KB - Kinderliebstadt (while located within The North Pacific, Kinderliebstadt is that part of Grosseschnauzer that remains in that region, and has its own country code within the schnauzervolk region. It is listed here as a matter of convenience.)

As to why its "KB" Historically that schnauzervolk nation was a city "Kinderlieb" when the schnauzervolk domestic postal codes were originally assigned. "Kinderliebstadt" was the name chosen to recognize Kinderlieb (the city)'s origin as a municipality when it became necessary for it to remain as part of The North Pacific for NS purposes even though it is otherwise a part of Grosseschnauzer when GS came to the IDU. So the K and the B are merely the first and last letters of Kinderliebstadt's original city name.

If possible, could Wondervolle be given the regional code WV.

If it's not too much trouble, the Republic of Kalida would like to be recognized as "RK".
