In real life, I'm Andrew, a 36 year old two time divorc? with spotty educational and occupational careers. Years ago, I had a penpal at the U of S, but I have long since lost touch with him.

I'm a moderate Luddite (or, as I prefer to think of myself, a believer in practical and reliable technology), so the only digital pictures I have to post are those people sent to me.

I did a crude crop of a Christmas picture to show my beloved Grinch tie; the tiny arm below belongs to my nephew, the woman on my right is my sister-in-law (his mother) and the man on my left is my brother-in-law. I normally only wear ties on Friday, to go against the flow. 8^)

In real life I'm Nate Gerard, 36, and live in the USA. I have a wife and two children and work for a newspaper. I grew up on the East Coast before moving to the midwest.

I'm a somewhat liberal democrat but I'm also having a great time learning more about political views and tactics of my European friends.

Are you at a K-R paper, or what? I used to work for a Southam TNG newspaper in the 1990s. Then Conrad Black (now Lord Black of Crossharbour) bought it, and I went looking for greener pastures.

I now work for another TNG-CWA media outlet. Sais-tu la SRC, Rolf, ou as-tu vu TV5 ou TQS?

And Nate, glad to see I'm not alone in the "geezer" department.

I spend a couple of summers in central Illinois (Campaign-Urbana and Springfield) in the 1980s, and visited a friend in Wisconsin in the 1990s.

I do work for a Knight Ridder paper if that's what your abbreviation means. I've found it rewarding but it is still working at a big company, which can sometimes be frustrating.

My name is Jadawin or Jad as I prefer to be called. My mother read a science fiction novel called "The Gates of Creation" by Phillip Jose Farmer when she was about 18 and decided if she ever had a son he would be called Jadawin.

I am 29 years old and do have photos but they are so awful that I'd rather not subject you all to them

I live in paradise or as we locals call it Brisbane, Australia. While there are great cities around the world the are great to visit, I think Brisbane is one of the nicest places to live anywhere. We have everything here except snow (have to fly 2hours south for that). I was born in Napier, New Zealand but my family emigrated to Australia in 1987.

I was on a disability pension for the past 9 years as I have a neurological disorder called transient global amnesia. (I'm not telling you what it is - you have to look it up for yourself :lol: ) I have just started working again in shopping centre maintainence and although its way out of my field of expertise, I am loving being back at work and being productive.

I don't think there is much more to tell you all about myself - if anyone can think of anything else they would like to know you can always TG me.

Well, I don't think all my pictures are particularly good. I dated a photographer for a while, and she would actually manage to capture a ton of really bad photos of me and every now and then could find some of the most amazing photos. From dating her I learned that what she saw in me wasn't always what I saw nor what other people saw. It was comforting actually to see that she and I even had different opinions on all her photos.

Not that I'm pushing for a photo of you ... but if you don't have any, then an alternative might me to take a picture of your home town and share something that you *see* frequently!



This is a building I walk by to lunch nearly every work day. It is odd. In a way I like it, because it is so isolated / closed off. I always imagine that there are a bunch of cigar smoking men in suits debating the fate of California inside. But I think the outside is just not that appealing.

Now that I've just slammed the building, if anybody wants to use this image, it can easily become an embassy or musuem for your country hosted in Miervatia City! If not, I may turn it into something else.

You may have it ... though I can always hunt and find other buildings as well. If you look at the picture properties you can see what little I've photobucketed (everything I photobucket is work safe)!

I'll eventually be saving a few buildings for universities.

That is a shame, as it was a beautiful building.

If I weren't a water engineer, I'd want to be in construction and just love buildings like that.

Was it destroyed during the war? I had thought that Rotterdam suffered the most, though I'm sadly ignorant of any Allies caused damage in the Netherlands. One that note, there are more than a few pictures of Germany's "Rothenburg o.d. Tauber" (my own) that I've been using.

On that note, if anybody ever sees something that screams tiny village and is your picture or a friends, if you aren't planning on using it in NationStates, with the exception of Miervatia City, Mikitivity is really a nation of tiny villages and I'd love to find a way to weave more RL places into my nation!

Oh, I realized why I love small towns ... I'm a Pitts"burg"h native. So trains, forts, rivers, and small mountain villages are in my blood. Western Pennsylvania is so fun.

It was demolished long after the war, 1967 to be precise, because a modern hospital was built elsewhere. There's an appartment building for older people in its spot right now. None as beautiful as the old hospital though.
