The Death of a Bachelor!
January 22, 2020, at 20:07. Archduke Franz IX von Welf was declared dead in at Heidenbach General Hospital in Lerbin, Drambenburg following an assassination attempt at Dorf’s Theatre in the historic Werthington district. The Geheime Staatspolizei are investigating the assassination. "We have found the assassin and have taken him into custody for interrogation," said Oberst Steffenhausen, the lead investigator on von Welf’s case in a statement this morning. The motivation for Franz’s assassination is still unknown, although it was assumed that it was political in nature. House von Welf is in uproar, and is attempting to appoint a new Archduke to replace the now deceased Franz. Franz was recently coronated as the Archduke on December 26, 2019, and had yet to declare an heir to the family, as he was only 16 years old. Franz was also unmarried. With the elderly Obergruppenkaiser’s health failing, House von Welf has little time to choose a new Archduke. Franz was a favorite among the House of Lords. This was the first assassination of a reigning member of an Oberfamlien in over one hundred years. Franz IX von Welf is survived by his mother Claire.

Immigrant Tent City Has Outbreak of Bubonic Plague
January 27, 2020, 13:10. THE TENT CITY OF Golden Eagle on the outskirts of Lerbin has had several confirmed cases of Bubonic Plague according to sources inside the quarantined pop-up. Drambenburg’s Department of Health and Infectious Diseases (HID) has announced that the outbreak was quarantined and will no longer continue to spread. They also said that Lerbin has no risk of an outbreak, even after several sick people escaped HID quarantine and admitted themselves to South General Hospital on Southside, bordering Blumburg at Highway 418 and Brödway. Golden Eagle is the name given to a relatively new tent town just south of Lerbin on the coast by the immigrants seeking refugee status in Lerbin. Government officials from the Khakus’ Ministry of Internal Defense, Immigration, Transportation and Infrastructure (MIDITI) have issued a statement saying, "The emergence of this pop-up town is an anomaly that we wish to avoid in the future, and every step is being taken to offer these refugees a quick and fair path to citizenship." Not long after the arrival by ship on Christmas Eve, 2019, the refugees set up the tent town, and by the new year, it was taken over by MIDITI officials who have been helping the refugees get their Work Cards and set them on a path to citizenship. The town was originally censused at just shy of 8,000 people on January 13th, and today has been reduced by over half, to just under 3,500 refugees. The MIDITI has been getting the Refugees Work Cards and then sending them into more developed parts of Drambenburg’s hinterlands, areas where the old communities are dying because young people do not want to work in the industries available in the foothills, such as the oil fields of Bawarie and the taconite mines of Osterreich.

ENVIRONMENTALIST EXECUTED, RIOTS BEGIN IN NATION’S CAPITAL

Known environmental activist, James G. Kirk, was shot while speaking to a crowd at the Capitol Mall. No one is sure who prompted the police to begin firing on the crowd. The capital is now in shambles. Riots have broken out on the streets. Angry working-class members of society have taken up arms and began to march around the capital while demanding justice for Kirk. Certainly, we are living in trying times.
