"Threat is quickly evaporating," says General Reynolds
Massive Strides have been made against M.L.F. forces in past three weeks, says Coalition General

General Avery Reynolds of the Zamastanian Armed Forces and currently serving as the Commander of Coalition Forces said that "major strides have been made against the M.L.F." in the past three weeks, after fears of a stalled campaign had leaked to the public. The General spoke at length to reporters about the capture of large territories throughout northwest Vulkaria, including the cities of Monza, Werrnia, and Casuum. More than "60% of the conflict zone is now under direct Coalition control," said the General, "and we're ahead of our scheduled and projected advances at this point in the conflict."

Despite the good news strategically from the General, sentiment towards the conflict has soured in recent months. 114 Zamastanian troops have been killed since hostilities began on January 4th, with more than 500 injured. An additional 300 coalition soldiers spanning the member nations have also been killed, with thousands injured. In addition, over 800 Vulkarian soldiers have been killed. Most of the sentiment against the war began after the massive casualty counts that stemmed after the Battle of Amden on January 24th. However, public opinion in the war still approves of military intervention, with more than 70% in agreement that the conflict was necessary following the 1/2/20 Terror Attacks.

"The threat is quickly evaporating," General Reynolds said in Vulkar, "and we have killed approximately 10,000 enemy combatants across all battlefields in Vulkaria in the past month and a half of fighting. We are winning in every aspect."

The General also responded to a question from a Tofino Times reporter on the whereabouts of key terrorist leadership such as Van'a Kamoni.

"We can't talk publicly about our intelligence at the time, but we have already punctured massive holes in their leadership structure. It's only a matter of time until they're completely dismantled."

Top West Chanchajillan General Found Murdered In Rio Palito Hotel Room
General Derick'a Baana was found unresponsive in a San Beausoleil casino-hotel room

General Derick'a Baana of the People's Republic of Chanchajilla was found dead in his hotel room in a popular San Beausoleil casino on Thursday, murdered within five hours of arriving in the country, the San Beausoleil Police said.

Initial forensic reports indicate that Baana, a top West Chanchajillan general, was paralyzed with an electric shock before being suffocated. Other potential causes of death, including poison, are also being examined. It is unknown who may have committed the murder, but it is believed that multiple killers were involved. Baana's body apparently had signs of torture.

Baana had been in Rio Palito since Tuesday morning, following an attempted coup in West Chanchajilla and mounting tensions in the surrounding countries. Baana used his real passport to enter Rio Palito, according to state officials, even though he owned several others with aliases.

He was in the country for several days of official West Chanchajillan government business; the Armbar regime declined to be more specific about the purpose of his visit.

West Chanchajilla also said Baana was travelling without his usual contingent of bodyguards.

Police said that they had suspects, but would not name them and would not say how many suspects they had identified. However, they indicated that they believed the perpetrators arrived in the country using passports from surrounding countries. The authenticity of the documents has not been confirmed.

“Most likely the passports are authentic, as they had passed through several countries, and if they were fake they would have been discovered,” a Rio Palitan source said.

Baana, 50, was a founder of West Chanchajilla's covert military wing, the Aboutal Brigades. He was wanted by the East Chanchajillan government in connection with the killings of two Chanchajillan officers in 1989, as well as by Zamastan for the kidnapping of a Zamastanian soldier on vacation in East Chanchajilla in 1990.

West Chanchajilla has not accused anyone of the assassination.

The involvement of the East Chanchajillan government has not been ruled out by San Beausoleil Police, although officials said that currently they were only investigating individuals.

“It is only logical to expect [East Chanchajilla] to stand behind the murder, but we are not sure that they have carried out the crime,” a source said.

Police have said they would not co-operate with the West Chanchajillan military on the investigation, and would deal only with the foreign diplomatic branch of the government

“Because [Baana] is a West Chanchajillan national and was in Rio Palito, the embassy is authorized to follow up on his case,” a source said. “We have confidence in the Rio Palitan authorities and are sure the investigation will find the truth and we are ready to co-ordinate and support them with whatever they ask us.”

Both East Chanchajillan and Zamastanian authorities denied to comment on the developments

Armbar Blames Zamastanian Agents for General's Death

West Chanchajillan dictator Frederick Armbar has accused Zamastanian agents in the assassination of a top-General, Derick'a Baana, on Thursday after the general was found murdered in his Rio Palito hotel room.

General Baana was found dead in his hotel room in the famed San Beausoleil Pari Diamond Casino, where investigators say that he was strangled, electrocuted, and now they say that he was also drugged, according to toxicology reports and needle bruising discovered on his body. Armbar suggested in a ravenous and erratic speech on Thursday that Baana, one of his most trusted military commanders and the creator of West Chanchajilla's intelligence branch, was murdered by agents working for the Zamastanian Intelligence Service.

"The Zamastanians stop at nothing to dismantle our strides," Armbar said, "and they are no doubt the masterminds of Baana's death. Death to Zamastan will follow suite and justice will be done to the devils of Z.I.S.. Foley Sakzi, who is also a devil, will burn for his crimes of murder."

The Zamastanian government denied playing a role in the killing, but they confirmed that the Z.I.S. had been conducting extensive surveillance on the late General.

"Zamastan has consistently had it's eye on Baana," said Kirk Faulkman, Director of the Zamastanian Intelligence Service, "he and West Chanchajillan military sources have consistently plotted attacks and operations against Zamastanian persons. They've kidnapped multiple of our citizens, killed several of our soldiers, and often threatened our allies with war. They've slaughtered hundreds, committed crimes against humanity, and so much of it spawns from Baana's hands. We are not responsible, but we are not upset with these developments."

"WE COMPLETED THE MISSION" SAYS DIRECTOR FAULKMAN
Z.I.S. Director Admits Responsibility for General's Assassination, Says Agents Committed the Killing. Baana reportedly supported and harbored terrorists responsible for the 1/2/20 Terror Attacks

"We completed the mission," said Zamastanian Intelligence Services Director Kirk Faulkman to a stunned press room as the Chief intelligence officer of Zamastan admitted in excessive details that Zamastanian agents assassinated top West Chanchajillan general Derick'a Baana.

After having originally denied accusations by West Chanchajillan dictator Frederick Armbar that Zamastan was responsible, Faulkman said that President Foley Sakzi had approved and ordered the assassination, believed to be the first assassination of a foreign government figure by Zamastanian agents made known publicly since the mid 1970s.

The Zamastanian government, while originally denying playing a role in the killing, confirmed that the Z.I.S. had been conducting extensive surveillance on the late General.

"Zamastan has consistently had it's eye on Baana," said Faulkman, "he and West Chanchajillan military sources have consistently plotted attacks and operations against Zamastanian persons. They've kidnapped multiple of our citizens, killed several of our soldiers, and often threatened our allies with war. They've slaughtered hundreds, committed crimes against humanity, and so much of it spawns from Baana's hands. We are not responsible, but we are not upset with these developments."

Friday's surprise and shocking announcement comes after General Baana had been found murdered in his Rio Palito hotel room on Thursday, paralyzed with an electric shock before being suffocated.

"We have been planning for scenarios for Baana's elimination since the kidnapping and killing of Captain Federera," Faulkman said, referencing the kidnapping and eventual murder of Zamastanian Army Captain Michael M. Federera while he was on vacation in East Chanchajilla in 1990. "Our intelligence accelerated," Faulkman continued, "once he ordered the execution of dissidents this past week following a failed coup without trial or evidence. Baana has provided weapons and explosives to terror organizations, has propped up terror cells across the region, and as we discovered in our most recent investigations, supported the M.L.F. terrorists on January 2nd."

This new spurge of information came as the Z.I.S. published new findings showing that at least 16 of the 20 terrorists who committed terror attacks in Zamastan on January 2nd, 2020, were harbored by Baana's forces in West Chanchajilla and had illegally entered Zamastan on doctored passports. There is also evidence that other terrorists who struck in Legionas, Gardavasque, Xiomera, and Eiria had been either trained or harbored, if not both, in West Chanchajilla. Explosives used in the ferry bombing in Gardavasque and the Verdesia hotel attack in Legionas were also manufactured in West Chanchajilla. There were also fears that Baana was supplying and hosting more terror suspects for future attacks in Zamastan and Legionas, and that the recent bombing in Jade Harbor that killed 6 people was a West Chanchajillan cell of the Vulkarian-connected M.L.F.

Another page in the report detailed apparent secretive meetings, both personal and digital, between General Baana and M.L.F. terrorist leader Van'a Kamoni, who was the mastermind behind the 1/2/20 Attacks and the key-wanted figure of Coalition operations in Vulkaria.

"We are committed to the protection of our citizens and the citizens of our allies," Faulkman said, "and we will always fight against the forces of evil. The blood of thousands were on his hands, and now he is gone."

EMPRESS YAUHMI INVITED TO TOFINO BY PRESIDENT SAKZI
Invitation follows Terror Attack in Tlālacuetztla that Killed 10 and Injured 65

After the surprise admittance to the assassination of West Chanchajillan General Derick'a Baana and terror attack which claimed 10 lives and dozens of injuries, Zamastanian President Foley Sakzi is doing something unprecedented for someone in his office: he has invited Empress Yauhmi to visit Tofino for a state visit. Yauhmi, a Xiomeran head of state, empress, and widely perceived adversary, has been invited by President Sakzi in "a show of good faith and as unlikely but necessary allies against the M.L.F. threat," said the Zian Presidential Mansion on Saturday.

[box]XIN

A terror attack in the heart of the Empire has left ten dead and 65 injured, in an incident which has shocked and angered Xiomerans.

The attack unfolded today at 3:45 pm local time in Tlālacuetztla, along the Avenue Huatlcoapahua, the main route from the Palace of Flowers to the center of the capital. The attack started south of the Palace near the municipal Palace of Government of the Montelin municipality. A white rental van "left the roadway and began running over pedestrians," the police chief of Montelin municipality, Xāitz, told the media. "The vehicle continued doing so for well over a mile, repeatedly crossing over to the sidewalk and striking people," Xāitz said. When the vehicle reached the border between the Montelin municipality and the Tlālacuetztla municipality, it rammed a roadblock set up by the Tlālacuetztla municipal police. Five people then emerged from the vehicle, armed with knives and machine guns, and began attacking both the police and nearby civilians. The five attackers were eventually all shot dead by Tlālacuetztla municipal police, Montelin municipal police, and Imperial Police who arrived on the scene shortly after the vehicle hit the roadblock.

The five attackers have been confirmed to be members of the M.L.F., Secretary of Security Zalpalatli told the media. Their names are not yet being released, due to the ongoing investigation.

After the attack, a video was delivered to XIN's offices in Huitzitaca. The video shows three masked individuals, who state they are part of a M.L.F. terror cell in Xiomera. The leader of the cell said that today's attack was "our way of welcoming the Xiomeran imperialists to Vulkaria." The leader went on to warn that there will be more terror attacks in Xiomera "unless the Xiomeran imperialists immediately withdraw from Vulkaria", end all support for Vulkaria's government, and "withdraw from further interference with anyone outside their borders."[/box]

President Sakzi released a statement, saying "On behalf of the Zamastanian government, including the President's office, the Office of the Speaker of The Chamber, the Senate, and the State Department, I, President Foley Sakzi of the Imperial Republic of Zamastan, cordially invite Her Majesty Empress Yauhmi of Xiomera and any relating or necessary staff to the capital of Tofino for a state visit. Despite the obvious differences of our two nations, recent developments that have taken the entire world off guard has brought us into an unlikely but necessary alliance. In a show of our gratitude of your teamwork with the Coalition forces, the placement of our hearts in relation to the loss your nation has experienced, and the shared terror we now endure together, we request humbly that Her Highness considers our invitation and, if only for a minute, we set aside our disagreements and hostilities as we have done in Vulkaria and share friendship."

Speaker of the Chamber, Larious Maxwell, also invited the Empress to come attend a joint-session of Congressional Hall, where President Sakzi will deliver a speech regarding policies surrounding Vulkaria, West Chanchajilla, the economy, and the AD-14 outbreak.

If Empress Yauhmi visits, it will be the first time a sitting Zamastanian President and a sitting Emperor/Empress of Xiomera meet in person, as well as the first time the leader of Xiomera would visit Zamastan.

Xiomera and Zamastan have been historic adversaries. Most recently, a naval standoff in November and December between the two nations heightened tensions and created fears of a military conflict in the South Xiomera Sea. In July and August 2019, Xiomera and Zamastan engaged in an enduring trade war which caused global stocks to drop dramatically. During the Bjeorg Conflict in 1991, Xiomeran mercenaries fought Zamastanian forces directly, even firing the first shots that killed a Zamastanian pilot in the opening stages, as well as sinking a Zamastanian warship in an act that resulted in 87 sailors killed.

The President's invitation is unprecedented and caught many politicians off guard, due to the historic nature of the act and the unusually peaceful manner that Sakzi took to approaching Xiomera, a nation he once prodded as the "biggest threat to the future of the continent of Catica and the peace of the International Democratic Union."

Senator Euan Gunn of the GLP, a notable Sakzi critic and opponent for the office of the Presidency in the upcoming election in September of this year, criticized the President's invitation.

"We are in no political position to reach out to Xiomera and invite their Empress, a woman who would have sunk our ships and killed our people, to come to our home turf just because we're working with them in Vulkaria. I and many others am skeptical about the Xiomeran's role in the coalition, and I believe they have more notorious motives that the Z.I.S. hasn't discovered."

However the sentiment, Xiomeran soldiers are now engaged alongside Zamastanian troops on the ground in Vulkaria, and General Avery Reynolds of the Zamastanian Armed Forces has even given them the leeway to order airstrikes from Zamastanian jets; a move which a senior lawmaker called a "massive amount of trust if we can let them point at something for us to blow up."

VAN'A KAMONI IS DEAD
LEADER OF MALVARIAN LIBERATION FRONT WAS KILLED IN DARING NIGHTTIME RAID

VAN'A KAMONI, the terrorist leader responsible for thousands of deaths across the IDU, the source of violent, extremist cells of radical ideology, and the World's Most Wanted Man, is dead.

Kamoni was killed by a team of Zamastanian commandos in a compound in the city of Monza in the early morning hours of March 1st. President Sakzi announced his death roughly two hours after he had been killed, saying the death of Kamoni is a massive victory for not only Zamastan, but for every nation affected by the M.L.F.'s terror.

Kamoni was responsible for thousands of deaths across the IDU, masterminding the attacks of January 2nd which killed over 1,500 in 8 countries. He had been the number one target of coalition forces in Vulkaria since the conflict began on January 4th.

Kamoni rose to power as the leader of the Malvarian Liberation Front terror group following the assassination of the group's founder, Samuel Kannit, on May 9th, 2006. His leadership role was not discovered until 2014, before which time he was thought only to be a mafia boss. He is the father of two other prolific terrorists: Erik "the Butcher" Kamoni and Timothy Kamoni.

In 2016, President Zacharias Castovia said "Kamoni is public enemy number one, and we can't wait for the day that the prick is captured or killed." Following the 1/2/20 Terror Attacks, Kamoni became a household name across the IDU. President Foley Sakzi announced "Terror has no place in our world. Terror should not be allowed to continue, here or abroad. We will hunt down those responsible and bring them to justice." The Zamastanian Intelligence Service was offering a Z$35 Million award for information or intelligence leading to Kamoni's capture.

Not much was known publicly about Van'a Kamoni's life. Some sources in the Zamastanian intelligence community claim that at age 17 in 1986, Kamoni married his first wife. Kamoni had five wives, and some sources also list a sixth wife, name unknown. Kamoni fathered between 20 and 26 children with his wives. Many of Kamoni's children fled to Zerphique and Zamastan following the Second War in Vulkaria and as of 2010, those nation's authorities reportedly continue to control their movements. Several of Kamoni's children operate in the M.L.F. alongside their father, including Erik Kamoni and Timothy Kamoni.

Bryn Matteo, who was Kamoni's personal bodyguard from 1997–2008, details some of Kamoni's personal life in his memoir which was obtained by Zamastanian forces following Matteo's killing on January 4th, 2020. He describes him as a frugal man and strict father, who enjoyed taking his large family on shooting trips and picnics in the forests of Northwest Vulkaria.

The Z.I.S. described Kamoni as an adult as tall and slightly overweight, between 1.93 m (6 ft 4 in) and 1.98 m (6 ft 6 in) in height and weighing about 97 kilograms (215 lb). Kamoni has an olive complexion and is left-handed. He was known for wearing silver lined sunglasses, black suits, and fedoras, possibly inspired by a reported interest in 1920's Zamastanian gangster movies. Kamoni has been described as soft-spoken and mild-mannered in demeanor in person, although his video releases have portrayed him as aggressive and tempered.

On December 29, 1992, an attack was carried out in Providence, Zamastan known as the 1992 Giron Hotel Bombings. That evening, a bomb went off at the Giron hotel, where Zamastanian troops had been staying while en route to the Gladysynthian border, though the troops had already left when the bomb exploded. The bombers targeted a second hotel, the Nira, where they believed troops might also be staying. That bomb detonated prematurely in the hotel car park, around the same time as the other bomb explosion, killing an Laeralian tourist and a two Zamastanian citizens. Samuel Kannit claimed responsibility for the attack in 1998, but intelligence believes that Kamoni directly planned and ordered the attack. It is believed that this was his first ever terrorist attack.

Kamoni is believed to have planned and ordered at least 72 terror attacks since his ascension to second-in-command within the Malvarian Liberation Front. Some of the most notable attacks are listed below:

1995-2016
On November 13, 1995, a car bomb exploded at a facility in Bayview, Legionas where the Zamastanian military was training alongside Legionas troops. Five Zamastanians and two Legionites were killed and 60 people were wounded. The attack has been credited to M.L.F. by the governments of Zamastan and Legionas, although Samuel Kannit never took credit for the bombing.

In late 1999 and 2000, M.L.F. planned attacks to coincide with the millennium by attacking several significant sites across the IDU, specifically in nations friendly to Vulkaria or a part of the Coalition forces. A terrorist attempted to detonate a suicide vest at a Minjian temple in Laeral on December 4th, 1999, but was stopped by security and arrested. On December 15th, a terrorist opened fire on a cafe in Emerald, Pahl, Zamastan, killing two people and injuring 5.

As the Second War in Vulkaria intensified, the M.L.F. sent several operatives to nations involved in the Coalition. On April 3rd, 2001, 2 suicide bombers attacked the city of Königsberg in Legionas, killing 20 and injuring around 100 people. On April 4th, a bomb detonated in Cardiff, Cadair, killing 3 people and injuring over 30.

The 2002 ZNGS Fig bombing occurred on 6 October 2002. The Fig was carrying 397,000 barrels (63,100 m3) of crude oil from Vulkaria to Zamastan, and was in the Elkjob Bay off Zerphique to pick up another load of oil. It was registered under a Zerphique-flag and had been chartered by a Zamastanian petrol firm. While it was some distance offshore, an explosives-laden dinghy rammed the starboard side of the tanker and detonated. The vessel caught on fire and approximately 90,000 barrels (14,000 m3) of oil leaked into the ocean. Although Zamastanian officials initially claimed that the explosion was caused by an accident, later investigations found traces of TNT on the damaged ship. One crew member, a 38-year-old Zerphique citizen, was killed, and 12 other crew members were injured.

On December 13, 2014, a suicide-bomber attacked a shopping center in Seahaven on Butterfly Island, Lauchenoiria, killing five people and injuring 11.
2017 Tofino Terror Attacks

On 18th October 2017, M.L.F. terrorists launched their deadliest ever foreign attack to that date, targeting several sites in Tofino, Zamastan and the city's northern suburb, Tirzah. Beginning at 21:16, five suicide bombers struck the Tofino metro subway line. This was followed by several mass shootings and a suicide bombing, at cafés and restaurants.

The attackers killed 438 people, including 298 in the subway systems. Another 690+ people were injured, almost 400 seriously. Seven of the attackers also died while the authorities continued to search for accomplices. The attacks were the deadliest in Zamastan since the Alanis Pride Parade Bombing. Zamastan had not been on high alert since the end of the Second War in Vulkaria, during which 2 lone-wolf attacks took place at an office complex and a supermarket in Tofino and Jade Harbor that killed 8 people and wounded 22, including civilians and police officers.

The Malvarian Liberation Front claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying that it was retaliation for the support of the Vulkarian government in continued fights against their insurgency. The President of Zamastan, Zacharias Castovia, said the attacks were an act of war by M.L.F.. The attacks were planned in Vulkaria and organised by a terrorist cell based in Gladysynthia, aided by the insurgent group Gladys Popular Freedom Fighters. Most of the Tofino attackers had Zamastanian, Vulkarian or Gladysynthian citizenship, two were Cadairian, and some had fought in Vulkaria. Some of them had entered Zamastan among the flow of migrants and refugees.

In response to the attacks, a three-month state of emergency was declared across the country to help fight terrorism, which involved the banning of public demonstrations, and allowing the police to carry out searches without a warrant, put anyone under house arrest without trial and block websites that encouraged acts of terrorism. On 21 October, Zamastan launched the biggest airstrike of Operation Vulkar Rain, its contribution to the anti-M.L.F. bombing campaign, striking M.L.F. targets in Vulkaria. On 22 October, the suspected lead operative of the attacks, Ezra Po'Mannuk, was killed in a police raid in Arinals, along with two others.

On August 16, 2019, two people were killed and over 40 injured after a pressure cooker bomb went off at a cafe in the Kingston neighborhood of Tofino, Zamastan.

On August 28, 2019, 11 people died and 42 were injured after an attack by M.L.F. aligned Solas terrorists in Cardiff, Cadair. The terrorists stabbed multiple civilians who were attending the unveiling of a government office building.

On December 26th, a suicide bomber killed 48 people and injured hundreds at a political rally for President Farhen Brooks in downtown Amstelveen, Vulkaria. Two days later, eight Zamastanian and three Legionite soldiers were killed in an ambush in NW Vulkaria.

President Sakzi is expected to speak more about the killing later today.

Invitation follows Terror Attack in Tlālacuetztla that Killed 10 and Injured 65

FROM XIN BY [nation]Xiomera[/nation]: CLICK HERE
Empress Yauhmi has accepted an invitation from President Foley Sakzi of Zamastan to make a state visit to that nation, in a historic gesture that Imperial officials described as "something we hope will be ground-breaking."

The Empress issued a statement thanking President Sakzi for his recent condolences after the terror attack on February 28th in Tlālacuetztla, and also congratulating the Zamastanian armed forces for their recent operation to eliminate Malvarian Liberation Front leader Van'a Kamoni. The Empress also stated that it is her hope that the visit, the first by a Xiomeran ruler to Zamastan, will lead to discussions which will "allow for more cooperation and compromise between our two nations." The Empress also accepted an offer from Speaker of the Chamber Larious Maxwell to attend a joint session of Congressional Hall.

Xiomera and Zamastan have often had a contentious relationship over the years, spiking with the 1991 Bjeorg conflict and occasionally flaring up since then, with incidents such as the trade war in the summer of 2019 between the two nations and the more recent naval confrontation off Xiomeran shores in the winter of 2019 still fresh on the minds of many Xiomerans. Despite this, "the Empress believes that the time is ripe for our two nations to reset the relationship that has existed up to now," Imperial spokeswoman Tlālzixiuhxa told the media.

"As we have demonstrated in Vulkaria to great effect, our two great nations can accomplish a lot more if we have an understanding, and work together, instead of butting heads with each other. Hopefully, this visit will bring about positive change moving forward," Tlālzixiuhxa said.

Despite these positive words, some on both sides have expressed skepticism of the planned visit. Senator Euan Gunn was quoted in Zamastanian media criticizing the Empress as "a woman who would have sunk our ships and killed our people", referring to the South Xiomera Sea naval incident. Gunn also expressed skepticism of Xiomeran involvement in Vulkaria and accused the Empire of "notorious motives." On the Xiomeran side, some members of the Cabinet and the Huenyan Assembly, most notably Noxochicotzin, the tlatoani of the Necatli, have expressed similar skepticism. "It seems rather weak of the Empress, frankly, to travel to Zamastan as if we're a vassal state of theirs, just so she can take tea with a foreign leader who violated our sovereignty and threatened us with war," Noxochicotzin was quoted in a speech to Necatli elders. Speaking for the Empress, Tlālzixiuhxa called such sentiments "absurd".

"While both President Sakzi and the Empress could have ordered ships sunk and killed people, the most important thing is that neither of them did. Ultimately, both showed restraint, and we came to a reasonable outcome with the conference at Maivers - and isn't it rather a good thing that we all did?" Tlālzixiuhxa said. "How was that achieved? Through civilized discussion - like the sort which will occur with this state visit. Diplomacy and cooperation are always preferable to skepticism and confrontation," Tlālzixiuhxa added. "President Sakzi has demonstrated considerable political courage by extending this offer, and the Empress has demonstrated similar courage by accepting it. I would hope the skeptics in both our countries would at least wait to see how the visit goes before expressing negative sentiments," Tlālzixiuhxa concluded.

SAKZI TO HOST MEDIATION BETWEEN SELLEAUX AND HERZOG
Tensions Between Avergnon and Drambenburg have Escalated Following Troop Movements

Drambenburgian Oberkanzlerin (Upper Chancellor) Walde Herzog and Avergnonian Elected Archon Franz Selleaux are en-route to Tofino today to attend a mediation conference hosted by Zamastanian President Foley Sakzi to hopefully quell the escalated tensions following massive troop movements along the border of the two southeast Nerian nations. The tensions come as Drambenburg recovers from a dramatic riot in the capital of Lerbin on March 3rd, which saw the Obergruppenkaiser Peter XXI Wettin executed by rioting protesters in the center of the mall, along with his wife and four children.

Sakzi, who is on a streak of good public opinion on the helm of victories in territorial gains from the M.L.F. in Vulkaria, as well as the killing of terrorist mastermind Van’a Kamoni and the setting of a summit between him and Xiomeran Empress Yauhmi soon, is “ambitious to end a conflict before it begins,” according to senior staff to the President.

In the midst of the upheaved crisis, the number of refugees from Drambenburg have increased as more and more try to find asylum and better livelihood in both Avergnon to the south and Tinten to the north. President Sakzi has reiterated his resolve to take on refugees if needed. He has also stated that he hopes for a peaceful resolution to any outbreak of violence, and that he hopes to prevent a conflict in the region. Zamastanian interests are not historically high in Neria, but the relatively recent establishments of diplomatic relations, as well as the developments from the Z.I.S. that both nations possess considerable stockpiles of chemical weapons, has played into fears that a war in the region will unravel into a wider conflict and a humanitarian crisis that has the possibility of exceeding the Vulkaria conflicts and the West Chanchajillan migrant crisis.

Historically, Drambenburg and Avergnon have had numerous clashes and conflicts between the two of them since the 17th century.

DECISION REACHED IN DRAMBENBURG-AVERGNON MEDIATION SUMMIT
Both sides to stand down and economic blockades to be lifted

Armies in a volatile region of southeast Neria are to stand down and the economic blockade is to be lifted within the time limit of a week, says Zamastanian foreign department officials. [nation]Drambenburg[/nation]ian Oberkanzlerin (Upper Chancellor) Walde Herzog and [nation]Avergnon[/nation]ian Elected Archon Franz Selleaux met in Tofino on Friday with Zamastanian President Foley Sakzi as the mediating force and [nation]Gladysynthia[/nation]n Foreign Secretary Saurius Kent and [nation]Baytonia[/nation]n Foreign Secretary Ricky Tradama in attendance as observers. The Drambenburg officials stated their intent to find a peaceful resolution following the massing of Avergnon troops on their southern border in response to a series of violent escalating domestic tensions.

Selleaux, determined to keep his country safe from what was perceived to be a threat of attack from both Drambenburg and Tinten, announced that if Drambenburg lifted their long lasting economic blockade, to which the Drambenburgians said they will do, they will remove their forces. They also stated that any Tintenian aggression would result in a breaking of diplomatic ties. Gladysynthia will take a rare stance in helping Zamastan mediate the situation as it unfolds.

President Foley Sakzi spoke with the two leaders at his side to the press after the summit, stating that he was glad that cooler heads prevailed.

"This is a good day for the peace of the region," the President said, "and a great step forward towards better diplomatic relationships."

Reports say that the two leaders had gotten heated numerous times during the discussion, but the presence of Gladysynthian foreign minister Saurius Kent was apparently an important step to deterring the arguments. An official with knowledge of the meeting said that this unexpected presence of a Gladysynthian official may have "proved to show that nations with extreme differences and violent pasts can come together for the good of the world."

NEW TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS PASSED AS AD-14 GROWS
402 people have been infected and 41 have died in Zamastan

Officials announced travel restrictions for several nations, including Shuell, Milintica, and Eiria, following major outbreaks of the AD14 Virus which have killed several thousand people and infected thousands more across the IDU. Zamastan had already restricted travel to Shuell after a patient who had been attending the olympics tested positive for AD14 and later died. At least 41 people have died so far in Zamastan (38 of which were restricted to quarantined individuals and 3 who were not under watch), and 402 have been confirmed to have the virus.

Fortunately, according to officials, the virus has mostly decreased in rate of both death and infection, as no further cases have been detected by the Department of Public Health since Monday, and no deaths since March 1st. However, experts still say you should keep a controlled state of health - wash hands, cough into your sleeve, and be wary of people who may be displaying symptoms of the virus.

"ALL VITAL TERRITORY SEIZED" IN VULKARIA, SAYS PRESIDENT SAKZI

President Sakzi declared on Saturday that "all vital territory" has been seized in Vulkaria. Civilian and government territories have all been secured, according to the President and military officials, and only pockets of resistance in wilderness areas and mountainous regions remain. The President praised the Coalition and Zamastanian forces for their bravery and sacrifice in the course of the now over-two month long conflict that has seen hundreds of dead coalition soldiers, thousands of dead M.L.F. fighters, and hundreds of civilians killed.

"The bravery of our men and women in uniform, as well as the hard determination and unrelenting thirst for righteousness and justice from our allies, has proven that we prevail over the fear of terror and the reign of destruction that plague us on January 2nd, and has plagued Vulkaria for much longer," the President said.

Coalition forces are expected to withdraw from Vulkaria in the coming weeks, with Zamastanian forces staying behind in contingents to assist Vulkarian forces in maintaining stability and security as the larger force retires.

282 Zamastanian soldiers have been killed since the war began on January 4th, alongside 102 Legionite, 83 Maximusian, 136 Shuellian, 79 Eirian, 89 Xiomeran, 94 Arcadian, and 7 Ruskayn soldiers. Over 1,000 Vulkarian servicemen and women have been killed, as well as at least 2,000 citizens, most of whom were killed by the M.L.F. and other insurgent groups as an attempt to deter troop movements. Since Van'a Kamoni was killed, the resistance has greatly deteriorated.

On February 27th, 2020, Zamastanian officials estimated a heavy increase of refugees from the conflict zones in Vulkaria, approximating to an upwards trend of anywhere from 60,000 to 200,000 refugees in 2020.

Several urban area engagements, especially notable in the Battle of Amden, saw massive swarms of refugees fleeing from city zones towards coalition lines for safety. The Amden incident alone saw 20,000 people escape to coalition lines.

COALITION OF CROWN ALBATROSS OFFICIALLY FOUNDED
Congressional Hall Approved New Alliance Formation, Completing Zamastan's Exit from the IDU

In a sweeping resolution that stunned the International Democratic Union, Zamastan has officially departed the IDU to form the Coalition of Crown Albatross, a new economic and political alliance. Among the nations joining Zamastan in their endeavor to form the new alliance's government are Drambenburg, Avergnon, Vulkaria, Baytonia, and Ruskayn. President Foley Sakzi signed the official documentation that sealed Zamastan's transition after Congressional Hall passed the legislation to do so in a major 497-2-1 vote. Speaker of the Chamber, Larious Maxwell, spoke with reporters following the vote, saying that "today's developments are a positive step in the direction for future progression and prosperity. The International Democratic Union will be missed by all, but the future is bright and we must move towards it."

President Foley Sakzi also spoke in a televised address to signal the nation's departure.

"Tonight is the end of an era and the beginning of another. We have been and are continuously grateful to the International Democratic Union for their graciousness to us in times of crisis and for their openness for our own influence. Zamastan will always consider the International Democratic Union family. From the tumultuous days of August last year, during the tremors and quakes that destroyed so much, the Union helped us rebuild. Together, in the chaos of the attacks of January 2nd, we banded together. We defeated the terrorists who aimed to destroy us. In so many other moments, we have come together as a true Union. We are forever grateful.

To the governments of Laeral, Libertas Omnium Maximus, Gardavasque, Shuell, Lauchenoiria, Trive, United New England, Eiria, Legionas, Sanctaria, and now Xiomera, we do not intend this to be the end, but a progression towards a unique relationship. We will remain in constant contact to keep economic and political deals in tact with however they seem fit. We thank you for all you've given us over the years."
