Plans for Regional Culture
#1

Having been appointed to the rather grand title of Minister of Culture, I have some rather un-grand plans for the region.

I want to keep my aims basic so as to be realistic: activity levels, especially on the forum, are currently low. Therefore, I would like to initiate discussion of conducting:
  • One regional roleplay. This may or not be linked to CIDUS, but it could just be a simple summit, visit, exchange, or really anything.

  • One WA-related roleplay. A lot of you are in the WA, and even those of us who aren't still take an interest in it. The IDU has long been associated with WA (and NSUN) legislation, but with WA roleplay culture so poor at the moment, I believe the region should take the initiative in contributing to it.

  • One regional festival. My first interaction with IDU - in 2005, if you can believe it! - came through the Miervertian Beer Accords and the IDU Cheese Festival. This is a lovely tradition that I think it would be fun to revive, perhaps with a more general food and drink festival.

Additionally, I will happily help with anyone wanting to make factbooks, engage in regional roleplays, or anything else of that nature. Our region is not particularly active in forum RP terms, so I am not trying to overshoot at present. If we can manage to do some of the above, though, then I feel it will help revive regional culture.

I like the idea of a WA-related roleplay. You're right that we do have a long-standing association with the body and I think it's right to build on that. If we can weave that into a regional narrative, all the better. I'm definitely up for that.

The diplomatic roleplay thing myself and Scion tried to do not so long back, but I think it fizzled out. I'm hopeful that we can succeed with something similar on a more regional basis - the more people participating, the less likely it is to fail. That's the logic I'm applying anyway.

The Cheese Festival is definitely a big tradition that's fallen to the wayside and I agree it should be brought back.

I am totally available to help in any way I can.

Sounds good! I'll try to remain involved.

I'm glad that we are reviving IDU culture by reviving the Cheese Festival and other things and I believe that your plans are feasible and will have the support of many IDU citizens, myself included. Keep me posted!

I'm glad to see my plan has support. I have to wrap something up, and then next week I'll look to starting up one of these things.

Great ideas! We could definitely use some more cultural events!

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing very well today.
Everyone, I want to suggest a role play idea that I've been thinking about for a while.
The idea is that we create a regional role play where everyone in the region could contribute something by adding events that are relevant to the events that are previously posted before it.

Now some might ask: how do we pick the topic?
The answer to that is by holding an election and nominations via IDU NS Regional page.
We can receive the nominations through this forum and through in game messages to any party responsible.
Then later on, we can hold elections in game through poles to see the winning topic.
Topics can range from revolution and rebellions to maybe an action RP about events in a monarchy (You get the picture.)

Others may ask: How do we start it off?
Later on, we can let the Delegate choose who should start off the RP once the topic is decided.
We can have several people volunteer to start us off, and once we start it off, we are surely to gain more participation.

I think that if we do this, we are surely to get more participation on the Forum.
In addition to this, I think the spamming games are a good way to boost participation also.
So if someone is bored with nothing to do and they're on the forum page, it would be good to post and participate there.

That's very ambitious. Unfortunately, I don't think the region - especially on the forums - currently has the necessary level of activity to sustain a project that expansive.

An election and nominations for something as ... I don't want to say trivial but I guess it fits ... trivial as an RP that I doubt many would be interested in seems a little over-the-top.
