August 2010 Election
#1

To all WA members of the IDU:
The August 2010 delegate election is fast approaching. Time to get some things underway!

Because of the delay in getting things started (read: Jagera lost track of time), the timeline will be slightly shifted and shortened from that in the Charter. Voting will begin at 0.00GMT on August 8, 2010. This should allow enough time for a fair election without delaying too drastically.

So, the schedule will be (all dates begin at 0.00GMT):
July 24 - August 1: Candidacy announcements. All WA members who wish to run in the August 2010 elections may announce their candidacy for the delegacy during this time.
July 24 - August 7: Campaigning. All candidates may send telegrams to IDU WA members encouraging them to vote, post campaign messages on the forum, debate with other candidates, and do other campaigning-related activities.
August 8 - 14: Election period. Each WA member is allowed one vote, which must be sent to all members of the Election Commission (Jagera and Baranxtu). The results will be tallied after the deadline and the results will be revealed ASAP.

Yes, campaigning is being opened up to the announcement phase, as well. If candidates want to campaign early, they may do so at any point after announcing their candidacy until the voting starts.

You may announce your candidacy in this thread, or ask any questions or voice concerns about the election. You may also telegram members of the EC if you wish. We invite all IDU WA members who are in the region as of today to consider candidacy and declare themselves if so wished.

-Jagera, Election Minister
On behalf of the IDU Election Commission

The 'Diplomatic Immunity of Bears Armed Mission' is also submitted as a candidate for election to this role.

Bump the thread, as voting is now open.

Voting for the August 2010 election has concluded. The EC is currently discussing whether to declare the results valid, as we had a very low turnout.

Stay tuned....

For all those waiting for results, unfortunately, we do not have a decision yet. Thanks for your patience.

For those who want to know the problem, we had under 20% turnout. Per the election charter, the EC can and will decide the validity of this election. Nevertheless, if anyone else wants to add their two cents, we'll take it into account. So, if you have a problem with under 20% turnout being valid, speak up. If you don't, speak up. Do it before the EC makes its final ruling, though, or forever hold your peace. (at least until the next election.)

Well, with no objections to the election being valid (and with the withdrawal of Bears Armed Mission from candidacy on the RMB), the EC declares the election valid with the following result:

Embolalia is reelected for another term as delegate with 100% of the 2 votes cast.

Congrats to Embolalia, and hopefully we can get a better turn out next time!

I know I was one of those... So there was basically one vote cast for me? Yikes. Isn't the EC two nations? I hope we get better turnout next time...
