So, who here thinks that the current announcement will actually happen, and who thinks it is just another pipedream like it has been for the last 5 years.

They should have announced THIS on April 1st. Tongue Would've been almost as good of a no-prank if it actually comes forth.

On a related note, who here will actually jump across if it does happen? Will the IDU make the migration intact, or will we all need new homes? Will the winner of the current election be the last NS1 delegate, or will the IDU soldier on here for years to come? Will I ever shut up? (No.)

To answer my own questions: I will, I hope so, and I hope the IDU continues in perpetuity. And no.

I do hope that NS2 will become a reality. I'll most definatly make the jump if possible. If possible I'll still maintain relations here in the IDU if possible. This is the first good news I've heard in a long time.

As I said on the CH, I believe we should stick with NS1 and then not migrate, but stay on both.

I'm waiting to see how it all works out. I'm guessing that regions will still be intact, and so the IDU should be able to make a clean transition. If not, I might just start another nation for NS2 and work from there. I don't want to leave the IDU.

I hope it's actually worth transferring to.

Why not do both?

It's worth a try at the very least.

I'd like to do this if we could. Only drawbacks I can see are time and imperfect parallels. By time, I mean the amount of time we'd have to spend to support both; that depends on NS2 and the involvement required. As for imperfect parallels, I can see several IDUers (myself, and Antrium if the above post is telling) wanting to refound/continue the region in NS2, but the issues affecting the regions are likely to be different in both, and there are likely to be some different participants in each, especially if NS2 actually starts drawing in new people. Depending on the extent of this, we could see a real difference between the NS1 IDU and the NS2 IDU. This isn't to say that we couldn't keep both going, but that potentially trying to keep the same people going in each may be difficult, depending on what each person prefers.

I'm hoping most of us will be willing to make the jump, but I also hope the IDU can continue in NS1 as long as it can.

I think time will be crucial. For NS2, I don't know if they'll really keep NS around long after the transition.

Something to consider ... they might not treat regions the same in NS2, but they *certainly* will allow political alliances, and I hope to establish formal agreements with all the nations here.

So who has reserved their name in NS2? I just did. Even if I don't use it, I don't want someone else taking my name Tongue

I didn't know you could. Where can we do reserve our names?

EDIT: Never mind. I found it. The link is on your nation's main page on NS.

I've reserved Bears Armed, Philosophical Pandas, and Roumberre (but not Old Ceorana, so far) just in case...

They have a website:

Yup. One that hasn't changed since NS2 was announced, so that doesn't make me very hopeful about this coming soon. You'd think they'd update it with progress or something.

Check the weblog.

Philosophical Pandas got invited into the Beta, see here...

When asked what sort of world I wanted it to be in, my choice was "Medium-sized world, with War disabled", which resulted in it being placed in 'World 2'... So if anybody else here gets invited in, and wants to be in the same world, that's the criteria to specify...

Unfortunately one can't upload a customised flag unless one has paid for 'Ambassador' status... Sad
