I'm back from the dead...

Well folks I've somehow crawled out of the dust and darkness of library basements and research papers to come back, though I won't be able to particpate like previously. But still, I'm back from the dead.

Welcome back. Oh, I have returned as well.

What happened here?

Welcome back, both of you! Big Grin

As far as what has happened...it's actually a lack of things happening. We've faced the most inactivity of any time I can remember. Our last delegate expired so basically now I'm just delegate until we can throw together some elections or something. It's been pretty slow, but we've made it.

I've been checking in, and I'm glad to see Dom and Pagemaster back.

I'm now convinced that so much of our activity really requires our regional map to be current. It hasn't helped that Mik has been busy; IIRC, he expected to be able to pop back in at some point this month.

NS is a shade of what it was three years ago. Even the UN voting involves far smaller numbers than were participating then. Short of a massive relaunch by Max to revitalize the entire game framework, I'm not sure what to expect.

Well, it's a sign of the times. CivIV, among other things, has probably eaten into the available pool of active nations at NS.

Speaking of the map, I have updated it to reflect the few changes and additions that were requested during my year long absence.

I might send out a mass mail through the admin to everyone, just to say hello and invite them back for awhile.

Also, ZetaBoards(the modern update to InvisionFree, has finally been released(2 days ago I believe). I will be looking into migrating this board over, which might help bring some excitement back to this place.

I know what you mean. I've been home for a few weeks now, and while cleaning out my bookmarks I was like, "Oh my! IDU. I miss that!"

Glad you're still around Mik!

Yeah, love the logo!

I've noticed that the number of NS nations has nearly halved, only about 75.000 which used to be 100-130.000 in the old days.

Still, it's good to see that the IDU still exists, because even though I don't have time for the game I'd still hate to see the IDU and my nation disappear.

I actually like the smaller number of nations ... it slows things down a bit more. Granted, we've lost many players here too, but that is OK. We'll have more time to develop relationships with those of us here.

M, is your script still running that would grab the number of nations? I stopped using it to input into my spreadsheet about a year ago, but if it has been running on this time, I can go back and update the spreadsheet at some time.

Almost a year ago today they were created, I figure it is time for them to be put in use.
