That is an EXCELLENT idea!
It fits with Mikitivity and its Swiss model. I've started making coat-of-arms for the cities:

Eventually I'd love a ton of cantons, each featuring a major city-state. Leipfurt will feature a Thoris Pine. Ossendorf will have a bridge on its coat-of-arms. Oakmont (Hawkins canton) will have a scythe and Bavarian like diamond field. St. Claire (also Hawkins) will retain the diamond field, but have a half falcon.
