Having fallen tantalizingly short of toting home the IDU Football Championship Trophy like yet another prize of Imperial conquest the last time around, the Xiomerans look to seal the deal this time. Whether they can or not, though, is an open question. The Xiomeran team this time around is dramatically different, with a mix of veterans such as legendary goalkeeper Atzipal and renowned LW Axonotl forming the core of the team. A set of fast-rising stars of Xiomeran football, such as the twins Tepeyacac and Teteoinnan from the resurrected Chalchiuhtlicue AC, have the talent to win it all, but will lean heavily on their veteran teammates to provide the maturity and leadership to bring the trophy home.
Tactics: Just as any good Imperial team should, Xiomera focuses on the attack. Defense is left mainly to the goalkeepers, with both Atzipal and Netzahual trusted to have the talent and luck to provide the vital last line of defense. Otherwise, Xiomera focuses relentlessly on scoring, scoring, scoring. In the words of many an Imperial soldier, defense is only needed if you don't bring enough firepower on offense to break your opponents' spirit and run them out of the arena of combat. The Risen Suns take that spirit to heart as well when they take the pitch. With a focus on extreme conditioning and endurance, the Risen Suns firmly believe that they can outhustle and outlast any opponent, any time, anywhere. And they aren't often wrong.
Rivalries: Everyone? Mainly focusing on Caxcanan neighbors such as Eiria, but the Lauchenoirians are definitely on the list as well after the last championship. In any event, the Risen Suns have a chip on their shoulder the size of Tlālacuetztla going into this championship.
Fans: Xiomeran fans don't tend to engage in hooliganism much, seeing that as the province of lesser fanbases. But while not usually the ones to start a fight, if one is started, Xiomeran fans will likely be the ones to finish it. Most Xiomerans have at least basic military training, and are more than happy to demonstrate it. But otherwise, while loud and boisterous, Xiomeran fans are not likely to cause a riot (unless Huenya is involved).
Xiomeran fans are known for their team songs, taunts, chants, and their overly liberal use of the cuacuahuitl (an extremely loud horn). They are also known for the very large flags, banners and posters they tend to bring to events to cheer their team on.
