The palace had, mercifully, been cleared of cats, either by Zichitla or Hashemi. She did not sneeze constantly while she was crowned. She posed for the pictures and the television cameras, and then allowed herself to be ushered out of the throne room. Once she was alone, she sat down and cried.

I’m so stupid. Ahura Mazda, I was a child, though. Who takes advantage of a child like that!? I'm still a child, I know that now. I just want my daddy, but now I'm at war with him. All I have is this stupid crown and that crazy Aurora. No wonder Calhualyana wanted her dead - it’s like wanting Angra Mainyu destroyed. Not that I trust Calhualyana either.
Daddy was mad, but not like Zichitla. If he hadn't been a king, he'd have been harmless. She's different. Being near her is dangerous. I have to get her out of my country. I have to find daddy and grandfather and fix this stupid war. I know it's not my fault, not really, but it's my responsibility to fix it because I think I'm the only one who can.
She'll destroy the whole world. I don't need divine visions to see that. Every bit of scripture from every religion; every fiction book; every conspiracy theory makes the bad guys seem almost comically evil. Real evil isn't usually like that. Except Zichitla. She's exactly like that. Even the other Auroras know it. They're scared of her.
She's plotting something. They have late night meetings, and they keep disappearing and coming back looking like they've been in fights. I don't think it's just this west coast offensive. They make me sit in front of the cameras and make threats and "sabre rattle" as they call it. But there's no way they of all people need this many meetings for a simple land grab.
Half of the Auroras are as power-mad as Zichitla. The other half don't know how not to follow orders. They want to conquer the whole world. Zichitla openly says she wants to leave Xiomera and Kerlile to last so she can "make them watch”. She fantasises about torturing Pauline Pierre and Calhualyana. When she does it in front of me I want to throw up.
I need to get out of here, but I'm watched too closely. They know I ran from here once before. The only way I get out of here is if I stop her. So I will. Somehow.
