The Lauchenoirian ambassador to Huenya knew this wouldn’t end well. The last time a Lauchenoirian had been taken prisoner by the Golden Blade, Alvarez had double-crossed Calhualyana to get him released. Ambassador Angelica Vicario knew that there could be no repeat of such a scenario, and that if the embassy fell she was as good as dead. All the rest of the staff knew this as well, and fought accordingly.
The Golden Blade had not expected such vicious defence by the Lauchenoirians. Each and every one of them was giving everything they had, and nobody would even consider such foolishness as surrendering to the terrorists. When it became clear that the Lauchenoirians were about to get the upper hand, the terrorists became frustrated and decided to switch strategy. They launched a short-range missile straight at the embassy.
The top floors of the embassy were instantly destroyed, with the ceiling of lower floors collapsing in parts. Some security personnel and a pair of low-ranking diplomatic staff were killed instantly; with many more being injured. The explosion also blew out the eardrums of many of the defenders, causing alarm and confusion. Ambassador Vicario clutched the small pistol she’d been given harder. She did not know much about guns, but she knew with certainty that if the terrorists breached the embassy, she would shoot.
After the missile, the remaining defenders of the embassy began to falter, with the terrorists advancing as they killed the last of the security personnel and started on the poorly-armed diplomatic staff. A young man, an intern, managed to take down a terrorist by smashing a heavy paperweight shaped like a butterfly into his face. Unfortunately, two further terrorists overwhelmed the intern, adding him to the list of fatalities for the attack.
When all hope seemed lost, and Vicario had begun to seriously consider if she’d be better off ending it herself, lest they capture her and do worse, Huenyan reinforcements finally arrived. The terrorists now had enemies to their front and back. Because while the diplomatic staff were hardly trained fighters, they were very motivated. After a prolonged battle, the Huenyans managed to overwhelm the terrorists, reaching the embassy - containing a very, very relieved Ambassador Vicario.
