6/20/23
Those in attendance:
Queen Aiyisha Georgina Husander-Bokum (66) (carries Husander, the last name of the Queen's late wife, Queen Consort Angelica Husander-Bokum)
Prince Alsheer Javier Bokum (36), Royal Liason to Human Rights and Dignities
Princess Alaya Georgina Bokum (41), Senior Ambassador to LIDUN
Prince Consort Maurice Fusaam-Bokum (24), Royal Liason to Economic Affairs (husband of Princess Alaya) (Cancelled)
Charlie Organa (25), Personal Advisor to the Queen (ex-boyfriend of Prince Alsheer, grandson of Veronica Organa)
Veronica Organa (67), longtime friend of the Queen, Godmother of the Prince and Princess, Personal Advisor to the Queen, Chair of the Doatian Security Council, and Commander of the Doatian Armed Forces (DAF)
The meeting had been called by the Queen, regarding recent updates in Roucourt, AI, LIDUN, and other matters concerning the Queen. The Queen, just arriving this evening from her diplomatic trip to Roucourt. She plans to return in a few days.
The Queen and Charlie were already in the study, discussing strategy and updates in Roucourt.
"We must support the growth of a healthy democracy in Roucourt. We can't do that until we end the civil war, and rehabilitate Roucourt's economy" the Queen insists.
"Respectfully ma'am, the Chancellor is upset that we acted unilaterally. And although there is broad support for military intervention in both the CP, liberal and conservative factions of the PLP, and most of the EJP, there has been talk about the Chamber acting to weaken or undermine the Monarchy." Charlie responds.
"The Chamber would need to pass a constitutional amendment, subject to a popular vote, and over 86% of Doatians currently support the Monarchy. Thats a nonstarter, despite what some politicians in Doa City have to say. And yes, this extreme power the Monarch possesses should be restricted. But while it is within my grasp, I will utilize it for the greater good to its fullest extent" The Queen rebuttals.
"Understood ma'am. But my question is, is Roucourt really worth the..the energy? The resources? The political capitol?" Charlie insists.
"Without a doubt. If i don't use the Monarchy as it is presented to me, I will have failed my Mandate. The Monarchy stems from my grandmother, The Elder, the original Monarch of Doatia. She took great sacrifices, and lead her people through great suffering. But she led various peoples to unity, and thus prosperity. It is therefore destined in my blood that I do the same. The Bokum bloodline have reigned over Doatia for centuries, and will continue to serve this nation until our mandate is over. So, until the people act to restrict the Monarchy, it is not something I will entertain. Understood?" the Queen concluded.
"Understood." Charlie responds.
The Queen's personal assistance enters and announces the arrival of Prince Alsheer and Princess Alaya.
The Prince and Princess were both with the Queen touring Roucourt, and were attending to personal affairs until the scheduled meeting.
"Daughter! Son! Good greetings my children!" The Queen says, rising from her desk to embrace her children.
"Queen Mother!" Alaya says, hugging her mother and kissing her forehead (as customary to kiss the matriarch's forehead upon arrival and departure).
The Queen embraces Alaya and turns to Alsheer. She playfully punches his arm, and embraces him as well.
"What was that for?" The Prince says, chuckling and hugging his mother, before he bends to kiss her forehead.
"You know very well. That stunt you pulled in Roucourt!!" The Queen insists, tone turning serious.
"Hello Charlie! Might as well get it out of the way before they get into this" Alaya interrupts.
"What is there to get into? My mandate is to protect human rights and dignities globally, is it not? The nonviolent citizens of Roucourt stuck in PNDS and ARL territory must be heard as well" Alsheer insists.
"While of noble intent, your recklessness is dangerous. You went into hostile territory, as a recognizable figure, with no security detail. Without even notifying our security forces. Without even telling me. What if you were hurt? I can't survive such a reality. Be careful. Thats all im asking." The Queen responds, wiping a tear from her eye.
"Okay Mother, I understand. I did gain some important intel about PNDS structure. We have a window in which, if we are allowed ground forces, we can cripple their leadership network and cause the faction to collapse. The ARL, I hear, is far more dug in." Alsheer continues.
"We could always bomb them to smithereens. Neither faction is any match for Doatia Armed Forces" Alaya responds.
"That would play out horribly at home. The people of Doatia are only supportive of military action if its in pursuit of peace and stability. This will seem like unnecessary escalation." Charlie insists.
"Let's table military options until Veronica arrives. Any update at LIDUN Alaya?" The Queen asks.
"Our proposal has not yet been debated, let alone brought to a vote. I will reach out to the office of the Secretary-General to inquire on the duration of consideration. But, once its put to a vote, we wait 72 hours, and if it passes, the real work begins." Alaya informs.
"I see. The sooner our proposal gets approved, the sooner Doatia can pursue international causes from a larger platform. Charlie, what is this i hear of Androids in the palace? The Queen asks, as the Prince and Princess visibly react.
"Ah yes. Well, Ezpera has gifted the monarchy 4 Android prototypes. 2 designed to be Royal Security, the latter two are "diplomatic models", 1 designed to work at LIDUN with Princess Alaya, and another designed to assist the Queen directly with mediation efforts in Roucourt" Charlie responds.
"No fair, I don't get one" Alsheer jokes.
"I am excited with the Android developments. I look forward to exploring this..uh..addition to our diplomatic team." Alaya responds.
"Well I am hesitant. This tech hasnt fully been tested yet. But, I need all the help I can get in Roucourt. I'll be assigning the Android, and one of the security models, to your team Alsheer. I want you to, safely, continue to investigate the PNDS and ARL directly. Assign the other security Android to my detail" The Queen concludes.
"Yes ma'am. I..." Charlie starts. The Queen's personal security enters and announces Veronica's arrival.
"Ma'am, I apologize for my tardiness. Hello everyone." Veronica begins, greeting everyone and sitting with everyone, on antique couches, near the Queen's burning fireplace. "I have been tied up in a security briefing with the Chancellor. Actually, I'd like to start with this. Myself, and other members of the Security Council have...uh...grown more concerned with the Chancellor's behavior" Veronica says.
"Um...concerned how?" Charlie asks.
"Well, with her health and general coherence. Falling asleep during briefings, and that's if she is on time or doesn't cancel. We are concerned about her ability to lead the nation, to have command over the armed forces, and maintain stability within the divided Chamber. " Veronica responds.
"Well this is going to be a shitstorm" Charlie says.
"Charlie!! Decorum" Veronica corrects.
"No. He's right!" Alaya interrupts. "This will be a shitstorm! If the public get wind of her incompetence, it will be disastrous. It will undermine Doatia's position as a stable global leader, it will hurt our economy, it will hurt public confidence in government, and it will further discredit the liberal parties in the eyes of the Doatian electorate." Alaya continues.
"Right! And, thats not even to mention if there is a crisis that requires executive action. The Queen is restricted to diplomacy and national security. If the economy further declines, or the immigration crisis were to worsen. I will set up a meeting with Shuri Recardo. She must take Cori's place, and handle this quietly." Alsheer adds.
"Use caution and discretion. The Monarchy cannot be seen as partisan." The Queen adds.
"Extreme caution. There are already powers that be that seek to undermine the Monarchy" Charlie adds.
"Moving forward, we need ground troops if were to retake territory from the PNDS and ARL for Roucourt. I have officially requested the deployment of ground forces in Roucourt, in accordance with the recent decree you signed your Majesty. Additionally, there will be late-night air strikes against the ARL and PNDS." Veronica continues.
"Very well. I want the PNDS and ARL to be ashamed to show their face in the morning. There is something else on my mind. There have been...rumors in mediation circles in Roucourt, that we may not be able to accomplish democracy in Roucourt. But I want to make clear, our commitment will remain. So long as Roucourt does not violate basic human rights and liberties, and seeks betterment for its people, it shall have Doatia's support." The Queen asserts.
"Agreed" Alaya and Alsheer responded.
Veronica nodded.
Charlie rolled his eyes.
"If there is nothing else, meeting adjourned. I will be here until Friday and will head back to Roucourt." The Queen concludes.
Everyone rises. Alaya kisses her mothers forehead and leaves, Charlie gathers his materials and leaves with Veronica. Alsheer stays behind.
Aiyisha rises from her chair by the fireplace and goes to her desk. Alsheer sits in the other chair closest to the fireplace. Aiyisha grabs a wooden box out of a drawer in her desk, and open it. Inside are small papers, known as Julavs, and a bag of ancient Doatian herbs, known as Hugi. The hugi is rolled into a julav and smoked. She sets the box on her desk, takes a julav out and lights it, and sits next to Alsheer.
"Whats on your mind son?" Aiyisha asks, hitting the julav.
"Mom, I have met someone during my time in Roucourt. He's a Doatian mediation diplomat. We actually met during a mission to the Mushiki reservation. But we got to know each other better in Roucourt, and will begin seeing one another publically." Alsheer says, grabbing the julav as its passed to him.
"I am happy for you son. You will have to report this to the Ministry of Foreign Relations to avoid a conflict of interest. I'd love to meet him" Aiyisha says, sipping her tea.
"His name is Dameer Criscino" Alsheer concludes.
