Operation Starlight was the name given to the quickly scrambled security mission. New intelligence had identified a Kaijan League base located in a remote region in South Kaijan called Naga Belkang. The Kaijan League had kept their locations very secure since the dissolution of their attempt at a state in Early 2021. The operation had quickly been scrambled by Brooke Weasley and her national security team, with the South Kaijan Police working in cooperation with the Slokais Islands Ministry of Intelligence. However, one element missing from this operation was the Ministry of Defense.
"Madame President, the intelligence that I received does not seem to indicate any Kaijan League presence" Defense Minister Miguel-Osorio Chang stated over a video call.
"The previous administration did not take advantage of these operations, If we can eliminate the Kaijan League threat with this operation, I say we take advantage" President Weasley responded
"Don't let partisan games influence our defensive resources, My office or Joseph's should have been notified"
"I am the President, I don't need the permission of anyone. Also, Miguel didn't you get your position based on your friendship with the Prime Minister?
"All I am saying is that this Operation is a risk not only for our credibility but also for the people on the ground"
"I can guarantee that in 5 years, people will not remember this operation for its' lack of intel but rather its success"
"You better be knocking on wood, Madme"
The President turned to her National Security Team
"Give the go ahead, I want eyes on the ground"
"Yes, Madame President," said a General
The rain fell hard over the dense jungle of Naga Belkang, two dozen armed swat units approached a cave entrance. Captain Murshid bin Shabban motioned for the group to pause.
"Watch yourselves, Inshallah there are no KL inside"
"Going in" Captain Shabban spoke into his earpiece
"Confirmed, POSI has given go ahead"
The cave entrance was covered above with a heavy camo tarp, and a number of crates were scattered between rock outcroppings. Metal scaffolding had filled in the entrance leaving only a metal door.
"We have reached the entrance"
An officer approached the door with a battering ram, the others drew their weapons
"3,2,1"
The ram broke into the door and the officers rushed in. Inside a series of lamps illuminated a room filled with crates and weapons. "All clear, no KL in sight, we are going in deep..."
The room at the Presidential House went silent
"Well somebody gets goddamn reconnect" stated the President
"Madame, I believe this mission is FUBAR," said a general solemnly
"Jesus..."
"We are dispatching local forces to get a damage report"
