Belated Update _
Finally adding some species that I suggested, and Laeral agreed to, via TG late in (
) 2020...
I wrote: "For your nation, some possibilities: native species similar & closely related to RL's Chinese Foxnut, Chinese Mahogany, Japanese Hop-Hornbeam, Chinese Crocodile Lizard, Yangtze Giant Softshell Turtle (also present in Philosophical Pandas, where I have decided that the major river flowing into Laeral -- the river in whose basin this species lives -- is known locally as the "Myt'hai"...), Azure-winged Magpie, Red-headed Blue Magpie, and Common Green Magpie [local species is the 'Red-headed Greenpie'...]. Three species of Conifer that also exist in RL (Nothotsuga longibractea ['Bristlecone Hemlock], Thuja suthchuensis, Podocarpus nobilis), and maybe a member of the Plum-Yew family [Cephalotaxaceae]. A species of bird that also exists in RL [Lidith's Jay], for which you'd need a local name. RL's "Butterfly Bush" [Buddleia], and also an IDU-endemic "Moth Bush" [commonly "Smittia", scientifically 'Schmidtia'; introduced elsewhere as a garden plant] which is similar but has white flowers and blooms at night rather than during the day...
Do you want any of those?"
Laeral replied: "I just did some quick Google searches and these all look like great fits for Laeral! Thanks very much for thinking of all of these."

I'll now go through my notes -- hopefully within the next few days -- to see what I've got about 'scientific' names for those species.
