In the Early Morning in the middle of the 1st Ward at the center of a small park, surrounded by Public Housing, a few members of Mallacaland Rising set up tents, however, they were not homeless, they were here to protest, by dawn as people began to head out to the Industrial District, they saw the group of tents, with a banner that read "What: The Peoples Protest When: Until Change is Done"(Translated from Mallacan). Some locals began talking with those camped there, and a lot of them stopped and joined them, some even gave speeches to passers-by. At 8:00 a message was put out by the United Building Workers to all their members that they would go on strike and join the demonstration in the 1st Ward. Soon almost a Thousand people were gathered around a small stage.
That's when the Police showed up
"This is unlawful, gathering," they said, however, they just seemed to move to one side.

Soon more and more people gathered at the park, by now there was a small city of people, by a large tree there was a makeshift mosque, where many were praying. There was also a stage as well some vendors as well as many tents, people intended to stay here for a long time.
