Chuaztlapoc
Part 1
The following is a broadcast smuggled to Milintica’s Voice of the People national news service by a Xiomeran field journalist at Chuaztlapoc. They are standing on top of the ancient stone wall surrounding the center of the city. Gunfire and explosions can be heard, along with the sound of aircraft overhead.
“The city has been under siege for several days now, but so far, the Imperial Army forces have not been able to advance further than the initial perimeter. At first, they pushed the defending forces back pretty quickly towards the old city wall around the center of Chuaztlapoc. But the advance of the Imperial forces slowed considerably after the Empress made a personal appeal directly to the attacking forces. As the Imperial forces advanced into the city itself and got even closer to the city wall, the loyalist forces defending the city set up loudspeakers and video screens on the wall to broadcast messages urging the attacking forces to switch sides. The attacking forces eventually did shoot those down, but the propaganda effort by the loyalist forces seems to have had the desired effect.”
The reporter gestures to the area outside the wall.
“The Imperial forces are still advancing, but at a much slower rate than before. It appears that the determined resistance of the city defenders, coupled with the propaganda, has sapped the motivation of the attacking forces to a great degree -“
The reporter suddenly turns away from the camera, his expression shocked.
“The attacking forces have stopped their advance and there seems to be some kind of disturbance taking place in their ranks - now some of the units have begun to move back towards the outskirts of the city - wait a minute - “
The sound of several huge explosions is heard. The reporter disappears from view, the camera shot tilting upwards to show massive clouds rising into the sky.
