A quick whistle caught Rouchard's attention. The Crown Prince tossed her his pistol. "I've always been more of a fan of the up-close-and-personal approach," he said, gesturing with his dagger and giving a challenging look to the assassin that was approaching him. As the assassin lunged at Texōccoatl, another ran at Rouchard. The third one had fallen back, Rouchard's dagger in his chest. With a grunt, he pulled the dagger out, revealing that he was wearing body armor. He forced himself off the wall, preparing to join his companion who was attacking the Crown Prince.
Seeing Texōccoatl would be facing multiple opponents, Nōlinyauh suddenly came around from behind the desk, grabbing a heavy ashtray and flinging it at the head of the third assassin. It hit the assassin, but only stopped him for a moment. Shaking his head, he turned and fired at the Secretary. Nōlinyauh gasped, falling behind the desk.
---
In the hallway, the three Jaguar Warriors that had tried to come to the Crown Prince's aid found themselves heavily challenged by the assassins who outnumbered them. One of them shouted into his headset for reinforcements.
---
On the second floor of the château, Brigadier General Tlanexchel had managed to take down three of the assassins targeting him. However, the two others had gotten closer, and he was almost out of ammunition for his rifle. Switching to his pistol, he shouted the most vile Xiomeran insults he could think of to anger the remaining assassins into making a mistake. "Is that all you've got?" he added, for good measure.
The two remaining assassins, however, were too smart to let anger goad them into a fatal error. They simply continued to advance towards the General's precarious position behind the now heavily damaged furniture. Tlanexchel silently issued a prayer to Huītzilōpōchtli and prepared for their advance.
A sudden series of gunshots from the other end of the hall caught both Tlanexchel and the assassins off guard. Three other Jaguar Warriors had arrived, catching the assassins in a crossfire between them and the General. Tlanexchel used the final rounds in his rifle to good effect - the hallway was soon cleared.
Tlanexchel ran up to the other Jaguar Warriors. "To the Crown Prince!" he shouted, leading them towards the other end of the château.
