After the surprise admittance to the assassination of West Chanchajillan General Derick'a Baana and terror attack which claimed 10 lives and dozens of injuries, Zamastanian President Foley Sakzi is doing something unprecedented for someone in his office: he has invited Empress Yauhmi to visit Tofino for a state visit. Yauhmi, a Xiomeran head of state, empress, and widely perceived adversary, has been invited by President Sakzi in "a show of good faith and as unlikely but necessary allies against the M.L.F. threat," said the Zian Presidential Mansion on Saturday.

A terror attack in the heart of the Empire has left ten dead and 65 injured, in an incident which has shocked and angered Xiomerans.
The attack unfolded today at 3:45 pm local time in Tlālacuetztla, along the Avenue Huatlcoapahua, the main route from the Palace of Flowers to the center of the capital. The attack started south of the Palace near the municipal Palace of Government of the Montelin municipality. A white rental van "left the roadway and began running over pedestrians," the police chief of Montelin municipality, Xāitz, told the media. "The vehicle continued doing so for well over a mile, repeatedly crossing over to the sidewalk and striking people," Xāitz said. When the vehicle reached the border between the Montelin municipality and the Tlālacuetztla municipality, it rammed a roadblock set up by the Tlālacuetztla municipal police. Five people then emerged from the vehicle, armed with knives and machine guns, and began attacking both the police and nearby civilians. The five attackers were eventually all shot dead by Tlālacuetztla municipal police, Montelin municipal police, and Imperial Police who arrived on the scene shortly after the vehicle hit the roadblock.
The five attackers have been confirmed to be members of the M.L.F., Secretary of Security Zalpalatli told the media. Their names are not yet being released, due to the ongoing investigation.
After the attack, a video was delivered to XIN's offices in Huitzitaca. The video shows three masked individuals, who state they are part of a M.L.F. terror cell in Xiomera. The leader of the cell said that today's attack was "our way of welcoming the Xiomeran imperialists to Vulkaria." The leader went on to warn that there will be more terror attacks in Xiomera "unless the Xiomeran imperialists immediately withdraw from Vulkaria", end all support for Vulkaria's government, and "withdraw from further interference with anyone outside their borders."[/box]
President Sakzi released a statement, saying "On behalf of the Zamastanian government, including the President's office, the Office of the Speaker of The Chamber, the Senate, and the State Department, I, President Foley Sakzi of the Imperial Republic of Zamastan, cordially invite Her Majesty Empress Yauhmi of Xiomera and any relating or necessary staff to the capital of Tofino for a state visit. Despite the obvious differences of our two nations, recent developments that have taken the entire world off guard has brought us into an unlikely but necessary alliance. In a show of our gratitude of your teamwork with the Coalition forces, the placement of our hearts in relation to the loss your nation has experienced, and the shared terror we now endure together, we request humbly that Her Highness considers our invitation and, if only for a minute, we set aside our disagreements and hostilities as we have done in Vulkaria and share friendship."
Speaker of the Chamber, Larious Maxwell, also invited the Empress to come attend a joint-session of Congressional Hall, where President Sakzi will deliver a speech regarding policies surrounding Vulkaria, West Chanchajilla, the economy, and the AD-14 outbreak.
If Empress Yauhmi visits, it will be the first time a sitting Zamastanian President and a sitting Emperor/Empress of Xiomera meet in person, as well as the first time the leader of Xiomera would visit Zamastan.
Xiomera and Zamastan have been historic adversaries. Most recently, a naval standoff in November and December between the two nations heightened tensions and created fears of a military conflict in the South Xiomera Sea. In July and August 2019, Xiomera and Zamastan engaged in an enduring trade war which caused global stocks to drop dramatically. During the Bjeorg Conflict in 1991, Xiomeran mercenaries fought Zamastanian forces directly, even firing the first shots that killed a Zamastanian pilot in the opening stages, as well as sinking a Zamastanian warship in an act that resulted in 87 sailors killed.
The President's invitation is unprecedented and caught many politicians off guard, due to the historic nature of the act and the unusually peaceful manner that Sakzi took to approaching Xiomera, a nation he once prodded as the "biggest threat to the future of the continent of Catica and the peace of the International Democratic Union."
Senator Euan Gunn of the GLP, a notable Sakzi critic and opponent for the office of the Presidency in the upcoming election in September of this year, criticized the President's invitation.
"We are in no political position to reach out to Xiomera and invite their Empress, a woman who would have sunk our ships and killed our people, to come to our home turf just because we're working with them in Vulkaria. I and many others am skeptical about the Xiomeran's role in the coalition, and I believe they have more notorious motives that the Z.I.S. hasn't discovered."
However the sentiment, Xiomeran soldiers are now engaged alongside Zamastanian troops on the ground in Vulkaria, and General Avery Reynolds of the Zamastanian Armed Forces has even given them the leeway to order airstrikes from Zamastanian jets; a move which a senior lawmaker called a "massive amount of trust if we can let them point at something for us to blow up."
