BRYN MATTEO KILLED IN ZAMASTANIAN OPERATION
Matteo Was A High-Ranking M.L.F. Commander

President Foley Sakzi announced on Saturday that Zamastanian special forces had undertaken an operation that killed Bryn Matteo, a high-ranking Malvarian Liberation Front commander who was believed to be behind the 2017 Tofino Attacks and participated with the coordination of the January 2nd Attacks that killed over 1,485 people.

"I can say with certainty and conclusion today," Sakzi stated in his press announcement, "that a team of our Special Forces has killed Bryn Matteo, a M.L.F. commander known as a crucial part of the group's command structure, the coordinator of and one of the perpetrators behind the 2017 Tofino Attacks. Matteo also was crucial to the planning of the January 2nd Attacks, and was known as one of the Malvarian Liberation Front's main recruiters and trainers. He was third in command of the terrorist group, and was planning many more attacks across the IDU and Vulkaria. Now, he is dead."

A ten-man strike team landed at an isolated compound in the Sangra Valley north of Lacarno and south of Masenma, the latter of which is a stronghold for the insurgent forces. The team breached the compound and eliminated five terrorists, one of whom was identified as Matteo. The team suffered no casualties, and also obtained documents deemed sensitive to enemy movements and programming in the region. A woman and child, believed to be the spouse and child of one of the enemy combatants killed, were taken into custody.

Matteo was a lead recruiter for the Malvarian Liberation Front, responsible for committing foreign and Vulkarian nationals to the terror group as cadets. He ran much of the group's underground social media platforms, and also was one of the publishers of the group's propaganda machine. He was considered to be the third-in-command of the M.L.F., making him the highest ranking terror affiliate to be taken out since Samuel Kannit's death in a 2006 raid.

"This is a good day for the Coalition forces as we prepare for the complete destruction and tear-down of the rebellious, deceitful and malicious terror groups in Northwest Vulkaria," Sakzi said.

A Coalition offensive is expected to begin in the coming days against insurgent forces.
