Council of Kerlile announces support for Xiomeran position in Maivers

The Council of Kerlile have announced their support for the Xiomeran position at the Maivers Conference in Laeral. Although no Kerlian delegation is attending the conference, the Council expressed their desire that any agreement made would consider the fact that Xiomera made no aggressive move and that Zamastan is in the wrong on the matter which sparked the conference.

The conference, which is being held at the Châteaux de Maivers in Laeral, is aimed at decreasing tensions in the South Xiomeran Sea after a fleet of Zamastanian warships entered Xiomeran waters for several hours without permission, sparking a series of condemnations from a number of nations, including Kerlile. Leaders and diplomats from a number of Catican nations are in attendance, including Eiria, Legionas, Shen and United New England as well as Xiomera and Zamastan.

Though Kerlile was not invited to the conference, nor has the government expressed any wish to attend, the Council of Kerlile today released a statement supporting Xiomera in the matter, saying that it is their wish that those nations in attendance agree that Zamastan is at fault in the South Xiomeran Sea incident. The Council also expressed hope that an agreement would be made to decrease tensions, but pledged to support whatever decision Xiomera makes in the matter.

President Arnott, following the initial incident, condemned Zamastan and expressed support for Xiomera. However, she has also stated her reluctance to get involved in any conflict, should one arise, citing the state of the economy and a desire to focus on domestic reform. Relations between Kerlile and Zamastan were tense in the summer, when both nations imposed sanctions on each other following a similar trade dispute between Zamastan and Xiomera. President Sakzi of Zamastan has expressed his wish to impose yet more sanctions on Kerlile since then.
