Empress Yauhmi of Xiomera arrives in Kerlile for visit

Empress Yauhmi of Xiomera arrived in Kerlile this afternoon to begin a visit to the Matriarchy of Kerlile, the first visit by a foreign head of state since the Matriarchy’s foundation. She will remain in Kerlile until Thursday, and is expected to meet with both President Arnott and the Council of Kerlile. She will also attend a ball on Wednesday evening arranged by the Council in her honour.

It is expected that President Arnott and the Council will discuss the increasingly close relationship between Kerlile and Xiomera, and that they will seek to become even closer over the coming months. It is unknown, however, what the Council will say, if anything, on the matter of the recent tensions on the continent of Catica. The Council has, on several occasions in recent months, expressed their unwillingness to enter into any conflicts, so it remains to be seen what they will say.

Upon arrival, Empress Yauhmi presented Councillor Jennifer Hale with a birthday gift, as today is the Councillor’s 38th birthday. The Councillor was presented with a macuahuitl, a wodden club with obsidian blades, which is a traditional Xiomeran weapon which was handcrafted by traditional Xiomeran artisans. Yauhmi presented the Councillor with the gift to “honour her strength and give her protection”. Councillor Hale has thanked the Empress deeply for the gift.

Speaking to the media upon her arrival, Empress Yauhmi said: "I am honored to be visiting Kerlile, our good friend and ally. As the first Xiomeran leader, and indeed the first head of state, to visit the Matriarchy, this visit shows both the strength of our connection and the value of communication. I look forward to meeting the Council, and also introducing myself to the people of Kerlile."

President Arnott has said she looks forward to meeting with the Empress, saying that: “Xiomera has been a true friend to Kerlile in difficult times, and it is a great honour for me to welcome her to Kerlile today. Tomorrow we shall meet and discuss a number of important matters, which I hope will lead to great things in the future for the people of both our countries.”
