The lights finally came on in the dark screening room as the last of the credits finally rolled up on the screen. A disappointed Wu Biyu looked up at her mother
"I thought there was going to be an after credit scene"
Wu Zhao shrugged, as she got up out of her seat. She looked around and saw that the overwhelming majority of the theater had already emptied out. Only a few people, who were also disappointed that there was no end credit scene included with the latest installment of the Boa Boa franchise of pirate movies, that dramatized the great river pirate Wars of the Warring States period.
" I guess not. still, it was fun wasn't it?" She asked as the pair began to descend the stairs, and make their way to the exit
"I mean...ya I guess… I think the last one was better. You think with a movie called Boa Boas Revenge it would have more Boa Boa"
" ya I guess. You know I'm not the biggest fan of these pirate movies."
" oh yes. Not enough forbidden Romance, and cliche romantic dialogue for you?" The fourteen-year-old said playfully teasing her mother as they walked out of the theater in into the hallway leading to the concession area
" maybe I just prefer something beyond explosions and bloodshed?" she replied back trying to return the youths jab. But it wasn't nearly as effective. Her daughter had thoroughly burned her.
Making it to the second floor of the concession area, they boarded the escalator ready to make the quick walk back to the celestial Palace.
When they were about halfway down, Biyu pointed towards the door
"Those, are Palace guards, what are they doing this far from the palace while still in uniform?"
"I don’t know, let's find out. "
The two members of the royal household started to walk towards the Imperial Guards. When they noticed she was coming towards them they move forward as well to greet them.
" princess Wu, we have been waiting for you. You're needed at the Golden Tower at once"
" The Golden Tower? why? Has the Empress summoned me?"
The guards looked at each other awkwardly. Exchanging stairs that made concern grow on the face of the princess. And excitement grow on the face of her young daughter as she put together what was happening even before her mother
"... your Majesty the God Empress died in her sleep tonight."
The Guardsmen gave her a moment to process the shock. And it was shocking. She had just been speaking to her mother not a few hours ago as they had shared dinner in her Chambers. The Imperial Guardsmen took a step back each and bowed their head. Her daughter who at this point was smirking with such Glee that she had trouble keeping in the sounds of Joy she realized that she now had a chance at becoming the empress herself one day.
The middle-aged woman finally gathered herself. She took a deep breath and stood up straight.
