11:50 isolation containment center, [[ redacted ]], Shen Empire.

You weren't supposed to stay in these cells for this long. They were meant to be temporary containment for the highest value targets during processing. The infamous concrete cube. A form of solitary confinement where the perpetrator was locked into a cold concrete cell with absolutely no light for days on end. It said that you couldn't last a month in one of these without losing your mind to the loneliness.

But when you where the child of an Empress who wanted to forget you ever existed, you spent more than a few weeks here. You spent every waking moment from the time you were 18.

40 years in the concrete Cube. Forty years in solitary. All he did was join a pro-democracy society and start to advocate for reform. And his mother put him in a concrete cell.

With no sunlight and a feeding schedule that has no consistency, he had lost track of the days so quickly. Now he didn't even know how old he was.

All he knew was the screaming inside his own head. The voices echoing inside that empty chasm that kept him company. beating him and insulting him. Clawing at the inside of his skull.

Sanity was the first casualty of his imprisonment. And it had only gotten worse every year from there on out.

The old man was pondering another shapeless thought, stretching it out in order to fill the emptiness inside of his cell when he heard the heavy concrete door start to open. He stops the process of wrapping locs of his long unkempt hair around his fingers and pulling on them ever so slightly to look up.

There were several men dressed in the uniform of the prison service, and one wearing simple black robes

The man in black robes stepped into the cell and again to reach for something in his pocket

"... she's dead isn't she?" Wu Lie asked, causing the man in the mysterious black cloaks to pause for a second

"....yes. the God Empress passed away in her sleep tonight "

The old man let out a small chuckle. But before long it began to grow. Demented and twisted as each sickening cackle Echod throughout the small concrete room.

" finally….its over…."

The man in the black robe pause for moments, before continuing to reach into his pocket. Producing a small black pill

" I suspect that i don't have to force you to eat this?" He asked holding out the pill

" if it does what I think it does, then no you don't. But can I make just one request?'

The man in the black robe cocked his head to the side, before nodding slowly

"I suppose"

"... I could really use a cigarette"

The final request brought smirks to all of the faces presents. Small bouts of laughter began to escape from there formerly stone faces. Within moments they were all starting to crack up. One of the guards obliged the request reaching into his pocket and pulling out a pack of cigarettes. Another one got a lighter and handed it off to the prisoner.

Wu Lie took both and quickly ignited the cigarette before reaching for the black pill, ingesting it.

As the sensation of burning finally began to singe the hairs on his knuckles, and the laughter grew to the point of insanity the old man finally closed his eyes
