PRESIDENT BISHOP SPEAKS PUBLICLY FOR FIRST TIME FOLLOWING CONDEMNATION AND VOTE OF NO-CONFIDENCE APPROVAL
Senate Approved Vote of No-Confidence Date for Saturday, November 9th

President Anya Bishop spoke to a large press pool on the lawn of the Zian Presidential Mansion Tuesday afternoon, her first public appearance since Saturday's protests, the bicameral condemnation, and the Senate's approval of a vote of no-confidence. In her short, five minute address, she apologized for the response to the protest, while incriminating herself moments later and defending the use of force. She spoke out against the Congressional Hall, Speaker Sakzi, and other senators by name. She blamed the media for the negative response to her use of military force, and following the whole statement, she declined to take questions. The address began professionally, but quickly deteriorated into ranting. The Tofino Times was present, and here is the official transcript of what Bishop said:

-Bishop stands at the podium-

"My fellow Zamastanians, I have come here today to tell you the state of our nation and the state of my administration since the events of this weekend. On Saturday, protesters swarmed the streets of the capital, destroyed property, burned fires that blackened the sky, and defaced the image of Zamastan. However violent their actions, I do understand the backlash against me for authorizing the activation of military assets to respond as reinforcements to authorities and stop the chaos. The resulting deaths of police officers and protesters alike is regrettable, and my heart goes out to the families of the deceased. I apologize for what has been deemed as impulsive and reckless by many. While this was a rough, regrettable experience for our city, nation, those directly involved and those who witnessed.

I will, however, defend myself in this course of action. These protesters, these arsonists, threatened the security of thousands of people, injured officers, and left one dead. I saw no other course of action but to quell the violence in a quick way that stopped the violence and brought justice to those who deserved it. The Congress is at fault and severely misled by political interest only. No morality, no thought to the inner workings of the Presidency.

The audacity of Congressional Hall to lead a condemnation vote on me for this incident is ridiculous. Shame on Speaker Sakzi. Honestly. His political pursuits, his Presidential campaign against me, has torn our party in two. The Conservatives used to stand for justice and security and so much else, but Foley has dwindled us down to soft, squabbling individualistic power grabbers. Shame on you, Mister Speaker.

Senator Gunn and his proxies are poisoning the honesty of the party. The liberals lead charges all the time on me, and I think it's shameful that the media, Jade Tribune, Tofino Times, all that trash, will rail against me at any given moment. Liberal propaganda. You never did this to either one of the Castovia's, or to Foley. They're conservatives. Where's their issues.

-A reporter stands to ask a question, President Bishop points him out-

No, sit, I'm not taking questions. I just want to talk. I'm still in charge in this house, and I hope that Foley and Euan quit their rampage of false, provocativeness. Just, rethink, you - God, I was put here to do a job and these people are tired of seeing me change this country. No, no questions.
