'POVERTEA' PROTESTS ERUPT FOR SECOND NIGHT FOLLOWING BISHOP CONDEMNATION

For the second night in a row, massive crowds of protesters have gathered in Tofino to rally against President Bishop. This, however, comes hours after the Senate voted to condemn President Bishop for her mobilization of military forces to counter the same protesters on Saturday night. Politicians on both sides of the aisle have come out in support of the protesters and have encouraged their gathering, warning the President to stand down from ordering military forces onto the streets.

On Sunday evening, thousands of protesters streamed into the Financial District carrying Zamastanian flags and a flurry of inventive slogans on cardboard, a Tofino Times correspondent said.

"Resign, Bishop," they cried to the rhythm of electronic beats in the heart of the District.

"Down with corruption, we're done with Anya," they chanted, calling for President Bishop step down.

They also called for a general strike on Monday to pressure political leaders to continue with a vote of no-confidence.

"The condemnation today is only the first step," one unnamed protester said to Tofino Times reporters. "we aren't stopping until Bishop is out of the Zian Presidential Mansion one way or another."

Barriers have been erected out of debris and makeshift utilities by the protesters "in anticipation for military retaliation", according to one of the protesters who also requested to be unnamed. "They probably won't come out again tonight, but then again, we never thought they would come out last night either. Here we are, we're in the endgame."

There are worries amidst the protesters of additional violence, but police have announced that they will only intervene if there is a direct threat to the public and will not limit the protests with blockades. The protesters, in turn, have sanctioned off specific portions of the city, primarily in the downtown financial centers and away from Congressional Hall and other government buildings.

Three protesters were killed when police opened fire into the crowd Saturday night. An additional 300 were injured. Several officers were also injured, and one was killed. It is believed the officer's death triggered the shootings.

Sunday night saw smaller crowds than the Saturday night protests. There are reports that President Bishop ordered the military to remain on high alert but to not deploy on domestic ground for the remainder of the day.

Additional protests against Bishop's administration are underway, including in Providence, Emerald, Foreman City, Jade Harbor, and Kelowna.
