VOL. XXXII .. Num. 5754 | In the News: Massive Classified Document Leak
'Leakersite' Breached Zamastanian National Security Offices and Released over 200,000 Classified Documents - More Leaks Are Promised This Week
The damaged infrastructure following the August 31st earthquake led to the massive hack being able to occur, according to state officials. On Tuesday, hackers who at the moment are unknown individuals affiliated with the website 'Leakersite', are accused of leaking classified information on Zamastanian secret warfare, espionage, and other regards. Over 200,000 classified documents, equaling to over 4 million pages worth of material, was leaked on the internet.
A majority of the documents are still secured under massive digit password and lock, though it appears that a randomly generating computer will be able to open them. 'Leakersite' promised that there would be a steady stream of releases in the coming days.
President Bishop was asked about the leak at a press briefing, and stated that she was "not overly concerned, as most of the leaks appear to be material that would've been classified for no more than a year longer, or they were in the process of being declassified."
Tofino's government hold grave fears about the security of Gladysynthian border weapons and leaders are privately urging an attack on the nation, as well as plenty of Bjeorg Crisis documents from 1991, according to reports based on already reviewed classified cables leaked to major media outlets by whistleblower website Leakersite.
The State Department and Defense Department today condemned the latest leaks as a "reckless disclosure of classified information illegally obtained".
Today's reports are nervously marking the beginning of what could be a damaging and embarrassing week for Zamastan with the release of the first tranche in what is tipped to be a seven-day staggered drip-feed of exposes based on 250,000 diplomatic cables obtained by the website.
''The consequences are difficult to predict. It will at least be unpleasant - for my government, for those who are mentioned in the reports, and for me personally as the Zamastanian official," said one State Department official who wished to remain anonymous.
