Ines Abbott stood, letting the Xiomerans take the lead this time.
"We are also prepared to sign a formal agreement. In terms of the dispute between Zamastan, Kerlile and Xiomera, we are willing to accept the stipulation made by the Zamastanian government - though we are uncertain of their motivations here, our commitment to ending this dispute is stronger. We do, however, insist that this stipulation is temporary. We will not sign a permanent agreement if this is included. I hope that this can be agreed, as we do wish to sign an agreement terminating tariffs and sanctions at this time.
In terms of the dispute with Trive, if they are willing to provide a formal, written apology, and a formal, written agreement to avoid a recurrence of this incident, then we would be willing to enter an agreement in which we end trade sanctions and tariffs. However, in any such agreement we must reserve the right to reintroduce said sanctions if the Trivians violate their end of the deal.
We also echo the call by the Xiomeran delegation for a formal agreement not to use restrictive trade measures to encourage political and social change, if that is something the Zamastanian and Trivian delegations are willing to discuss. However, we recognise that the primary aim of this conference is to end the immediate dispute, and we would ask that perhaps this could be discussed in the future, not only to ensure negotiations here end swiftly, but also to allow other nations not involved in this dispute to consider such an arrangement, which we believe would be even more beneficial to the regional economy."
She sat back down, taking a sip of her water and nodding in the direction of Huitzilhuani. She was interested to see what the Trivians especially would say; she was not worried about Zamastan, as she expected they would be more than willing to end the dispute in light of their recent tragedy. She had no wish to make things harder on Zamastan, hearing about the earthquake had made her more determined than before to see that an end to the dispute came quickly, lest the state of the economy lead to more suffering of Zamastanian women, children, and even men.
