Trista Demore stood at the table, patted her notes twice on the desk, and cleared her throat. The earthquake, though so far away, had rattled her to her core. Her conversation with Eliza revitalized her priority, however, and she was more resolved than ever.
"The Imperial Republic of Zamastan acknowledges the strives made by every participating member of this summit to be here. I, myself, am proud of the mark this makes on the global community. Our hope, most straight forwardly put, is this; we would like to see the fully restored establishment of our trade networks with Xiomera prior to this dispute. We would also like to see the removal of all tariffs, blockades, and other embargos that are hindering trade relations across any of our nations. The Xiomerans will see a complete restoration, as stated, and the Kerlians will see similar results.
President Bishop has assured me that she has pen to the paper, ready to sign any order that will lift the Xiomeran embargoes." Demore gestured and nodded towards the Xiomeran delegation.
"As for the Kerlians, we want to remove all of our current embargoes on your nation as well. We are also ready to establish direct trading networks with you, and we believe this will be a definite, mutually beneficial business for both of us. However, there is one condition that I hope we can negotiate or overlook entirely..." The Kerlians perked at this ominous sounding cliffhanger from Zamastan's chief trade negotiator.
"Zamastan, as well as many nations in the IDU, have embargoes placed on Kerlile. We have this option on the table - we remove all embargoes on Kerlile with the exception of Kerlian metal-wire imports. This would pertain to electronic devices. This seems like a lot, but once we establish a conclusive trade agreement, we can remove that final barrier. Other than that, we are completely dropping every other tariff and blockage to trade.
Thank you, everyone."
Demore sat, looking around. The Xiomerans huddled, talking to each other. The Kerlians were visibly pondering.
